Getting to Know Iowa Hawkeyes Football Recruit, Linebacker/Safety Jeremy Gainer
As college football teams prepare for bowl games, it's also time for schools to get thinking about recruiting.
With the recent turnaround of Iowa's season, they have become a much more attractive location for high school prospects all over the country.
I was fortunate enough to be able to talk to one of Iowa's highest rated recruits, Jeremy Gainer.
Gainer is a linebacker out of Clarenceville High School in Detroit, MI.
While this versatile defensive player is being pursued by many Big Ten schools, he thinks the Hawkeyes have really stood out. "It [Iowa] has a lot of positive to it. They have had a great season after a slow start," Gainer said, "and are getting back on their feet."
Jeremy's versatility has been key to his success this season, and has played a big part in his recruiting process. He has the ability to play multiple defensive positions. "They [coaches and scouts] look at me as a player that can play both [safety and linebacker]."
Gainer is a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com, so naturally he has gotten a lot of attention, but he has yet to make a final decision on a school. "I am at the stage that I am narrowing down my list and trying to make visits to schools and see how I feel about the campus and other necessities."
This All-State selection in the state of Michigan recorded 90 tackles (10 tackles for loss) this season, and has proved to be a great leader on the field.
Surely Jeremy will be making some team very happy on national signing day, and the Iowa Hawkeyes appear to be in good standing.
Surely this young defensive star will make one team very happy on signing day, and it seems that the Hawkeyes are in good standing.
