Week 9 College Football Picks: Stanford and Teams That Will Dominate
The BCS standings have gotten it all wrong by putting Stanford at No. 6 behind teams like Boise State and Clemson. Their win over a ranked (25th) team in Washington should have shot the Cardinal over both Clemson and Boise, as both teams were playing unranked teams last week.
But, this column is not about the atrociousness of the BCS and where this team led by Andrew Luck is at after two weeks.
This column is to shed light on teams that will dominate this week.
There are three teams in particular that will cruise to victory this week, while cruising up the BCS standings when they come out on Sunday.
Stanford Cardinal
Stanford has their first tough road test this week, as they travel to Southern California to take on a really good USC team. This is a USC team that is coming off of a huge win over Notre Dame last week in the Irish’s house.
But Notre Dame, as good of a team as they are, is nothing even close to the talent level that this Stanford team will bring on Saturday night.
Andrew Luck will take his game to another level, as there will be extra attention on him this week.
Stanford fans can expect a close game for three quarters, but will see their team pull away in the fourth. Luck will throw for 350-plus yards and four touchdowns, as he will make every bad team in the NFL suck even more for Luck.
Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma did suffer a bad loss last week, when Texas Tech came into their house and beat them. But, a Oklahoma team coached by Bob Stoops has not lost in back-to-back games since the ’99 season.
So, even if they are going against a really good Kansas State team that is ranked at No. 8 in the BCS Standings, they will not fall for a second straight week to knock themselves completely out of the BCS bowl contention.
Oklahoma, led by QB Landry Jones, will have a huge day on the road in Manhattan and win by 10.
Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin is like Oklahoma, as both suffered crushing defeats last week. And, just like Oklahoma, the Badgers will rebound this week on the road.
The Badgers travel to Columbus for a Saturday night game against a really good Ohio State defense. This defense shut down Nebraska’s QB Taylor Martinez for three quarters and shut down a good passing attack in Illinois and WR A.J. Jenkins.
But, Ohio State has not played a quarterback as good as Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson.
This week, Wilson leads this Wisconsin team back into the win column and back into the race for the Big Ten Leaders division title.
These three teams will either rebound from a defeat or stay undefeated, but all of them will win in an impressive fashion this week.
