NFL Week 8 Picks: Which Teams Would Bettors Be Fools to Bank On?

John RozumOct 27, 2011

When making bets on pro football, you have less room for error than when betting on basketball or baseball thanks to there being less games.

However, you also have more time to make a more conscientious, objective decision for the better. So, here are three teams you want to stay away from when betting on the NFL in Week 8.

San Diego (Favorite) over Kansas City (Underdog) -3.5

The last time the Chiefs lost it was to the Chargers in Week 3. However, that game was in San Diego and the Bolts only managed to win 20-17.

This time around, K.C. is riding a three game win streak after starting 0-3, whereas the Chargers have yet to beat a team with a winning record. Also, they have failed to play with consistency on the road (even when they win).

Last season the Chiefs defeated the Chargers at home, and you can expect the same this season. Because until San Diego proves they can play better on the road and against inferior teams, they are a dangerous team to bet with.

Philadelphia (Favorite) over Dallas (Underdog) -3.5

Another big game this week lies in the NFC East, where the 3-3 Cowboys visit the 2-4 Eagles. Obviously both have been disappointing this season with their own issues.

Dallas chokes late and is inconsistent, while Philly is significantly underachieving and does not have one impressive win. Although the Eagles are favored, Dallas has the better defense, an offense that has become more dynamic now that they are healthy, and is beginning to develop a solid ground game.

Philadelphia is weak inside the trenches on both sides, and with little pass protection, the Cowboys' pass rush will force Mike Vick into making multiple bad decisions.

St. Louis (Underdog) vs New Orleans (Favorite) -13.5

Here's a game that can be tricky. The Saints do not play nearly up to their potential on the road while the Rams are just straight up terrible.

But, after New Orleans smacked the Colts at home last week, they have a lot more confidence heading into this week, whereas St. Louis is desperate for any kind of positive sign.

Make no mistake about it, The Big Easy will win this game and although it is not going to be like Sunday night, it will be by at least 14 points. Drew Brees dishes the rock around so well that St. Louis has not chance at stopping him.
