NFL Week 8 Picks: Which Teams Will Lose Tough Road Games?

Chris TrapassoOct 27, 2011

Losing road games by a few points is the worst.

So close to picking up a quality win away from home, but a handful of plays in the first half or a hurried throw in the fourth quarter usually lead to defeat.

These three teams will lose tough road games this week.

Minnesota Vikings

They simply can't get a break. They've been competitive in nearly every game and gave the Packers a scare last week.

Traveling to Carolina to face Cam Newton and the Panthers will be another high-scoring game that will make the defenses look like they never instituted a game plan.

Adrian Peterson will have his second straight big day on the ground and Newton will continue to make plays with both his arm and his legs.

In the end, Minnesota doesn't have enough firepower to stay with Carolina which has a very comfortable quarterback and an elite wide receiver leading its offensive attack.

It'll be close, but the Vikings will sadly drop to 1-7.

New England Patriots It's never easy betting against Tom Brady, especially against the Steelers—a team he's owned over his career.

New England will be able to move the ball and score points more efficiently than most teams can against the Steelers, but I think this game comes down to the Patriots' defense, or lack thereof.

Ben Roethlisberger has been kept upright over the last few games and has had time to find his young and speedy receivers down the field.

The Patriots' secondary is not ready to contain these receivers and I see the Steelers winning in a shootout.

Many experts are high on the Bengals because they play good defense and are getting solid play from their rookie quarterback, Andy Dalton.

Unfortunately for Cincinnati, it'll experience a setback in Seattle this week, a very tough place to play.

The Bengals will be without star running back Cedric Benson who's serving his one-game suspension, and the Seahawks defense is better than many people think.

Tarvaris Jackson should play and although it'll be low scoring, I think he outplays Dalton in this one.
