NFL Picks Week 8: Kansas City Chiefs and Teams That'll Win Divisional Matchups

Kyle VassaloOct 27, 2011

Every division game is important, but Week 8 puts forth divisional matchups that will turn some divisions upside down.

Aside from the NFC West, no division is locked up by any means. There are four division games this week. Two of them are between AFC South teams, but it's not just the AFC South that needs to bring their "A" game.

Here are the teams who are going to win this week's divisional matchups.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have gone from a dejected, winless team in the Andrew Luck race to an AFC West contender. They torched the Raiders in a 28-point massacre last week. This week, they are catching the overrated Chargers at the perfect time.

The Chargers are heading into this Monday Night matchup at 4-2. They beat the Chiefs by a field goal last time around, but it's at Arrowhead this time, and the Chiefs have a new secret weapon.

Jackie Battle has helped the Chiefs resurrect their run game. Phillip Rivers can expect to improve upon the no touchdown, two interception performance he had last time he faced the Chiefs, but it's nothing compared to the strides the Chiefs will make on the ground.

Tennessee Titans

After the Colts were blown away by the Saints 62-7 last week, it's hard to see them winning a game this season.

The Titans are coming off back-to-back losses, but the indifference Indianapolis has shown makes it clear that the Colts are far more focused on April than they are on the season they are in the midst of.

Chris Johnson is struggling mightily, with just 268 yards on the season, but the Titans don't need him to carve up the Colts for them to take down the dejected Colts.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are heavy underdogs heading into their matchup with the Texans, but a closer look shows that the gap between these two teams isn't as significant as it seems.

The Jaguars and Texans both have a top 10 defense. This is going to be a low-scoring affair and the Jaguars sixth-ranked pass defense will keep Matt Schaub from torching their secondary.

This comes down to Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Arian Foster. Foster is coming off a monster performance of 115 yards on the ground and another 119 through the air. Even so, he's been inconsistent even when healthy. The safe money is on MoJo, who has yet to accrue less than 80 yards in any game this season.

Dallas Cowboys

The Eagles are still distracted. Asante Samuel taking shots at the front office proves that the Eagles are carrying their baggage with them past the bye week. The NFC East is wide open and these two teams still have a great shot at winning a division title, but the Eagles locker room problems will keep them from doing so.

Their run defense finally showed up against the Redskins, limiting them to 42 yards on the ground. It's far too early to say that their run defense is fixed, though.

The Cowboys have the best run defense in the league and a better passing attack than the Eagles have. The extra preparation time won't help the Eagles in a shootout that clearly favors Dallas.
