7 Reasons Tim Tebow Will Have Success Against Detroit Lions Defense

David LevinOct 27, 2011

It would appear that Superman is going to don his orange and blue Broncos uniform and take on the Detroit Lions this weekend.

So much has been made about Tim Tebow's fourth-quarter comeback against the Dolphins that Detroit might be happy they have hidden from the press somewhat about their two-game losing streak and the fallout from "Karma Gate" with Ndomukong Suh.

Some things just fall into place at the right time.

But while there is a ray of sunshine in the Broncos locker room this week, the Lions better be careful not to come out overconfident against Denver.

The Lions are already two games behind in the loss column to the Green Bay Packers, who are setting the world on fire.

And now, the most polarizing player in the NFL gets to host one of the upstart teams in the NFL this season.

We shall see what happens, but my gut is telling me this one may go down to the wire again.

7. It's a Home Game, and His First Game Starting This Season

1 of 7

Tebow always plays well at home.

He has in high school.

He has in college.

He will in the NFL.

The Denver crowd is so firmly behind him that the support has to be an advantage.

And it will get loud and rocking in Mile High Stadium.

6. Detroit Is Reeling a Bit

The two losses are not as bad as some might think, but they could invade the mental picture for the Detroit defense.

Suh and his front line must be weary of another let down.

Tebow will exploit it if they are not playing at full speed.

5. Tebow's Running out the Pocket Will Give the Lions Fits

Tebow does this all the time. But no one has yet figured out a way to stop him.

The running ability of a quarterback who plays like a fullback is so valuable for the Broncos.

It allows them to play more of a spread out offense.

Tebow thinks on the fly and can change plays with his feet and then his arm.

4. Detroit Uses "Karma" to Beat Up QBs, While Tebow Uses It to Win Games

4 of 7

I have been wanting to use this all week long.

Clever, isn't it?

It just seems that when the game is on the line, Tebow pulls out some mystical mojo to get the yards or completion he needs. He isn't always pretty, but he gets the job done.

That is the most important thing in the NFL.

3. He Should Have Better Mechanics This Week

5 of 7

Some of those passes he threw looked like air-mailed bombs and wounded ducks.

You have to think this week he will get better.

2. His Intangibles Give Him an Edge in This Game

6 of 7

Going back to the Lions losing streak, if he comes out of the gate running and picking up yards, it hurts Detroit mentally.

If he comes out firing on short passes and makes first downs, it hurts Detroit mentally.

Tebow getting into the heads of the defense will disrupt the entire game plan for the Lions.

1. All He Does Is Win

7 of 7

And really, besides Cam Newton and Michael Vick, he is the most exciting player to watch in the NFL.

That is all you can ask for from you starting quarterback.

All he needs to do is go out there and be himself, the rest will work itself out.
