Michael Vick Needs to Stop Posing for Magazines and Start Leading Eagles to Wins

Michael Vick recently appeared on the cover of UPTOWN magazine and gave rare post-prison access in an interview to them.

I don’t see the value in him doing this, as the Eagles are currently 2-4 and in last place in the highly competitive NFC East.

Vick needs to be spending his bye week time watching film, working on his game and being more involved with his teammates on the offensive side of the ball.

The Eagles are in disarray, and having a "big" win over the lowly Washington Redskins going into a bye hardly qualifies as a moment that will turn the season around.

If anything, Vick wasting his time taking his shirt off and standing in a smoke machine staring at a camera instead of doing football-related activities is going to set them back.

“I play the game the way I know how to play it,” Vick tells UPTOWN, after the magazine spent months trying to negotiate an interview. He’s understandably cautious about whom he talks to and what he says.

“You have to take precautions, but this is what I love to do. I want to be there for my team and do what I have to do as a quarterback to be successful.”

If Vick and his people are wasting months dealing with the PR department of a magazine, that alone is just distracting.

Now that he actually gave the interview, the things he is saying are contradicting what he is doing.

He needs to be there for his team and do what he has to do, not want to.

Vick also told the magazine, “I am determined to become a better student of the game and I knew I had to work at it.”

Well, Michael, talking about that to a magazine means you aren’t in the film room or on the practice field actually becoming a better student of the game.
