College Football Recruiting 2012: The Biggest Upcoming Recruiting Visits
We've got some big time official recruiting visits coming up in the next couple weekends. Everyone knows how big the official visit is in the recruitment of a prospect.
You show a prospect a good time, sell what your program has to offer, showcase the wonderful academics of the university, and chances are you can end the weekend by getting a commitment. For this article, I'm just going to preview a couple big recruiting visits on tap coming up.
Let's get started.
Ohio State Hosting Adolphus Washington and Swayne Stanford This Weekend
1 of 5Wisconsin comes to town this weekend, so that automatically gets people fired up in Columbus. However, this is also a pretty big recruiting weekend for the Buckeyes.
Going more into specifics, two prospects standout that will be there: DE Adolphus Washington and WR Dwayne Stanford. Both players are teammates and two of the top prospects in Ohio and the country.
Washington is a 5-star player per Scout.com and viewed as the top player in the state. He is a 6'5", 250-pound DE that is an athletic specimen. Stanford is a 6'4", 195-pound WR with great length and big play ability.
Both players plan to announce their choices on November 9th.
Auburn Hosting Avery Young This Weeknd vs. Ole Miss
2 of 5Auburn is taking on Ole Miss this Saturday, which is a key game in the SEC, especially for Auburn trying to get back on track. It is also a significant weekend for recruiting since a lot of different prospects will be on hand, including several major 2013 recruits.
Yet, the biggest prospect there will be 5-star OT Avery Young. At 6'6", 285-pounds, Young is one of the premier LTs in the country. Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and Alabama seem to be in the race.
Auburn will need to really put the press on him all weekend, as many speculate this is a Florida vs. Georgia race, with everyone else behind those two.
Nebraska: The Visit of All Visits
3 of 5If you are a Cornhusker fan, you know and I know this has not been a banner year on the trail for Nebraska. Let's just speak the truth as it stands right now.
However, you know and I know that there is a solid chance Big Red can land 5-star OT prospect and brother of Cornhusker DL Stephen Peat, Andrus Peat. At 6'7", 300-pounds, Peat looks like a franchise LT prospect and is coveted by everyone.
He will be in Lincoln on November 26th, when the Cornhuskers play host to Iowa. Peat will also visit Stanford, Texas and Florida State before he makes a decision.
Florida vs. Florida State on November 26th
4 of 5This is always a huge recruiting weekend whether the game is played in Tallahassee or in Gainesville, like it will be this year.
At the end of the month, the Gators and Seminoles will face-off, and there will be plenty of recruits on hand watching. From Jordan Jenkins, Dante Fowler to Stefon Diggs, there will be a slew of recruits in attendance.
What also makes this game and recruiting visit so insane is, even though the recruits will be officially visiting Florida, just about all of them will also be seriously considering Florida State.
Alabama vs. LSU on November 5th
5 of 5You can make an argument that next weekend is the national championship game. You really can.
I mean, you get number one traveling to number two, in the best league in football and everything else that entails another "Game of the Century" type atmosphere.
What also makes this game huge? You guessed it, the recruiting visit angle. Arik Armstead, the No.1 recruit in the country if you ask Scout.com, will be in Tuscaloosa to check out the Crimson Tide. As will 5-star strong safety Landon Collins and DE/OLB Jordan Jenkins.
Big time game, big time recruits in attendance.
