Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Who Are the 5 Riskiest Wide Receivers?

Zach KruseOct 27, 2011

In our Week 8 fantasy football rankings, these five receivers appear to have the most risk...

Sidney Rice, Seattle Seahawks

Rice might benefit from the return of Tarvaris Jackson, but the positives end there for the Seahawks receiver. The Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle's Week 8 opponent, are quietly putting together one of the finer passing defenses in the NFL. They've given up the fifth-fewest fantasy points to receivers in 2011.

Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts

Wayne has become a regular in this space, as the Colts quarterback situation has drained him of any consistent fantasy production. Pierre Garcon is also clearly Curtis Painter's favorite target.

Overall, Wayne hasn't cracked 80 yards receiving or caught a touchdown since Week 1. Don't expect that to change against the Tennessee Titans, who are the fourth-best defense against fantasy receivers in 2011.

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

Kevin Kolb has been poor so far in Arizona, but Fitzgerald has still managed to get his yards and catches. That might not happen this week, when the Cardinals make the trip to Baltimore. The Ravens haven't give up more than 155 yards to opposing wide receivers since Week 2 against the Titans.

Deion Branch, New England Patriots

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been the top pass defense in the NFL so far in 2011, and Branch is the one whose numbers will likely drop when the Patriots travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Wes Welker will always get his targets but the Steelers have the ability to eliminate Branch from the stat sheet.

Greg Little, Cleveland Browns

The San Francisco 49ers pass defense hasn't always been shutdown in 2011, but they've been good lately, especially against receivers. Little is now the Browns' No. 1 receiver, but quarterback Colt McCoy could really struggle on the road. Nothing here suggests Little could have a big day in San Francisco, unless McCoy defies the odds against one of the NFL's better defenses.
