NFL Picks Week 8: Tom Brady Will Be Too Good for Steelers' Defense

Brian RoachOct 27, 2011

Tom Brady is a special NFL player/quarterback and he is my pick for Week 8 to really smoke the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense out of the water. A Week 8 win over the Steelers would basically grant them the AFC best record if the New England Patriots continue the way they are playing.

Brady is an elite quarterback and with 15 touchdowns already in six games, he should be able to throw touchdown passes even against a tough Steelers' defense.

Brady's Record Against the Steelers

1 of 4

Brady has a 7-1 record, including playoffs, against the Steelers since 2002 and that record is enough for him to have another great game against the Steelers' defense.

There have been close games and blowouts and the only loss came at Pittsburgh on October 31, 2004 by the score of 34-20. Brady will play yet another masterful game against these Steelers.

Wes Welker Can't Be Stopped

2 of 4

Tom Brady has multiple options to throw to and Wes Welker is his favorite. He leads the league in receptions and yards and is on pace to have over 2000 receiving yards, which is incredible.

Against the Steelers, expect Brady to pass the ball to Welker every chance he gets.

Aaron Hernandez Is Healthy Again

3 of 4

Aaron Hernandez has found his way in the end zone for a score in three of four games he has played in. He missed a couple starts with an injury but with him back in the mix, I expect Brady to target him whenever Welker is not open.

Brady's keen eye will be targeting Hernandez in the red zone, so watch out Steelers!

Brady's Ability to Read Defenses

4 of 4

Brady's ability to read a defense is his greatest asset. He can tell when they are in zone or man and he picks a defense apart most of the time.

The Steelers' defense is no different. I can see Brady just reading the Steelers easily and effectively throwing the ball to his receivers to bring the Patriots to 6-1 in the 2011-12 season.
