NFL Picks Week 8: Tennessee Titans, New York Giants and Teams Sure to Win Ugly

Patrick ClarkeOct 27, 2011

Week 8 of the NFL season is nearly here, which means that so is the midway point of the regular season.

Thus far, it is safe and fair to say that we have learned absolutely nothing except that the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers are an undefeated freight train from hell.

However, this week, we will likely have a better idea of which winless team is the worst. Miami blew a 15-point lead at home to the Broncos in Week 7, while the Rams lost by nearly four touchdowns on the road and the Peyton Manning-less Colts gave up 62 in the Superdome.

I'm leaning towards Indy as the worst winless team in 2011, but there is still plenty more bad football to be played.

Here are three teams set to win, and win ugly—that means dominate—in Week 8:

Tennessee Titans

The Titans will host division rival Indianapolis in Week 8.

The Colts have won zero percent of their games in 2011, and will be forced to somehow muster up enough excitement after last week's blowout loss to avoid another.

However, Chris Johnson and company are coming off their own blowout loss from a week ago. The Titans were stoned in their own building by the aggravated Houston Texans in Week 7, 41-7.

Still, the Titans are a better team all around, and the result will be an all-around butt-whooping of the Colts in Nashville on Sunday.

New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees and the Saints take the beatdown-fest on the road this week to St. Louis.

In Week 7, the Rams allowed the most rushing yards by a Dallas Cowboy running back in the history of that franchise.

Ouch.

At 0-6, St. Louis steps into the role that Indy played last week on Sunday Night Football. That is, the unfortunate winless team that must show up and attempt to look like it's putting up a fight against the Saints.

In all honesty, in contrast to the Colts, the Rams are playing hard this season. However, the will Saints roll on the road regardless.

New York Giants

Tim Tebow's magical arm lifted the Broncos in Week 7 and downed the drowning Dolphins.

Miami is now winless heading into Week 8, after giving up two touchdowns and a two-point conversion with three minutes to go against Denver.

In Week 8, they hit the road to face the New York Giants, who are fresh off a bye week. Eli Manning and Big Blue will no doubt keep the Fins in the game with their anything-but-giant play, but it's still the winless Dolphins.

A Miami loss on Sunday caps off the third and final loss of all three winless NFL teams in 2011.

Thus, the question becomes not when will the Packers lose, but when will the losers win?
