Fantasy Football Rankings Week 8: Blaine Gabbert and More Worthless Players

Gabe ZaldivarOct 27, 2011

If you want to practice the safest of fantasy football, you will stay clear of these dregs of the fantasy world. Blaine Gabbert leads the way as a must-sit player going into Week 8.

I really wish I could tell you a different tale. I don't take any joy in stating the obvious notes of a few players delivering horrible results.

OK, I am taking a smidgen of pleasure. That is only because I consider myself a Rams fans. That means I enjoy when anyone comes down to my level.

These are the players that may be borderline in deep leagues as starters. You may think starting them is a crap-shoot. It's not.

These players are guaranteed to kill your team and your weekend. Do the smart thing and stick them on the shelf, at least for this week.

Blaine Gabbert

The images of the Jaguars and Ravens doing battle still gives me nightmares. It was enough to give me cold sweats as I laid to rest every night this week.

Gabbert will not rebound, at least not in a huge way, against a very good Houston Texans defense. The same flustered and panicky Gabbert will be on the field against the Texans, and you don't want him anywhere near your team.

I have Tim Tebow way down on my list of quarterbacks I would rather start this weekend. The young QB may have received the win last weekend, but it was far from pretty.

We have to ask which QB we believe will show up against a better defense in the Lions, the one that overthrew receivers for three quarters, or the one that completed two touchdown passes late. I will take the bigger sample size.

Peyton Hillis

The Cleveland Browns running back is my pick for worst start of the week by a former stud. The best is well behind the running back who has a lingering hamstring issue.

Even if he were 100 percent healthy, which he's not, he would be sharing the load with Montario Hardesty. The fact that the San Francisco 49ers are a great run defense is the third strike that should have Hillis off your starting lineup this week.
