Tim Tebow Manages to Drive Knife Further into Miami Dolphins' Heart

Gabe ZaldivarOct 26, 2011

The Miami Dolphins are a sorry excuse for a football team. If that weren't enough, Tim Tebow recently stopped by to throw some salt in the wound.

Quick, what is the worst thing that can happen to a home team in any sport. If you said having a star on the opposing team get honored at the game, then getting beat by him after, you would be right.

That is exactly what happened to the Miami Dolphins last weekend, and they are still crying about it. I am not here to rub dirt in their eye, because I feel sorry for the lovable losers. I am also pretty good and mad at what was done to their egos.

I have no idea where the Dolphins management's brains are at currently, but they must reside close to the thing they are sitting on right now.

The Dolphins celebrated Tim Tebow day at the stadium when the Broncos took on the Dolphins last weekend. Why? Well, because Tebow once played in the state of Florida and he continues to be immensely popular.

NBC Sports reports on the obvious backlash that followed with Dolphins players. A team that has already been hit hard in the gut from markedly bad play had to suffer through a day no home team should ever have to suffer through.

Tight end Anthony Fasano paints a wonderful picture of shame on the day.

"

Showing up at the stadium and seeing all the Gator stuff and the Tebow stuff.  It was disheartening, but as players we kind of put ourselves in that position because the Dolphins are in the business of winning football games and making money.  We haven’t been winning football games, but it’s still a smack in the face and it’s unfortunate we couldn’t rain on their parade and get the win.

"

Safety Yeremiah Bell had the same thing to say about the appalling spectacle.

"

I think it was kind of messed up, you know, how he has a day in our stadium. You know, I don’t think any of us thought that was right.

"

It's not kind of messed up. It is messed up. The last thing this team needed was to have their faces rubbed into Tebow's awesomeness.

The Broncos quarterback has done absolutely nothing in the NFL to warrant a specific day to honor him. Let him win a Super Bowl, then he can have his own month in Denver.

Creating a day for Tebow was the dumbest things that could have ever been drawn up. Once Tebow became the starter, the plans should have been tossed in the closet, locked away and never heard from again.

Instead, a demoralized team saw Tebow lift the Broncos in a late win and get lifted by the media as a savior. The players are the ones to blame for the loss, but management is not helping matters.

A backup quarterback that has never done one ounce of good for the Miami Dolphins gets a day to share with his Gators brethren in Miami. If I have heard of something more ridiculous, I can't quite recall it now.
