SEC Predictions: Larry's Losers in the SEC, Week Eight Nine 2011

Larry BurtonOct 26, 2011

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) Well folks, with week nine here upon us, we're getting down to nitty and the gritty of the SEC season.

Just two teams are left in the unscathed, unblemished and unbeaten realm and they're resting up for next weekend's war.

But that don't mean there aren't some slobber knocking sagas yet to be played out this weekend and if me and the pigskin pickin' pooch can continue consistency in parlaying perfect predictions practically on demand, then we might just finish up with a year as good as last years.

Last week was another one of those perfect weeks and those five correct concentrations now elevate us to 52-9 for the year or a grade of 83%.

With another slight slate of only five picks again this week, another perfect week would only get us up to 85, so any loss this week would be a killer.

Arkansas at Vanderbilt

James Franklin has to be given a lot of credit for what he's done to these Song City Sailors this year. They've gone from being a punch line team to a punch you in the mouth team and they're only two wins away from going bowling and that don't happen too many times ever, much less in a decade.

But Bobby Petrino's Piggies ain't going to Vanderbilt to help them with their holiday travel plans and aim to tear and tusk some holes in the Commodore's ship and leave 'em grounded on the shore.

Vandy may only need two more wins, but they ain't gonna get one of them this week.

Larry's Loser - Vanderbilt

South Carolina at Tennessee

Last week Derek Dooley's Vols went from first half heroes the second half zeros once the Tide turned, but at least he left the game without losing another quarterback. This week he hopes regroup and rebound against a South Carolina team that is beat up and bruised.

And while it's true that with Marcus Lattimore gone for the year the Gamecocks have lost their best pecker, but the Old Ball Coach figures he's still got enough good Carolina Cluckers to pounce and peck on these Volunteers.

While neither team is firing on all cylinders, the Gamecock's just have a little more talent and in the end, that could make all the difference.

Larry's Losers - Tennessee

Mississippi State at Kentucky

Dan's Doggies dawdle up to the Blue Grass State and aim to raise their legs and mark that territory as their own this Saturday.

The bad news for them Kentucky Kitties this season, is that the only Joker isn't just in the coaching ranks, but describes the majority of the players as well. Let's just face the fact and call manure just what it is, Kentucky just sucks!

Outside of Ole Miss I can't think of any SEC team that would have a hard time kicking the Kitties to the curb and these Dogs'll do it.

Larry's Loser - Kentucky

Florida vs Georgia in Jacksonville, Florida

In the most interesting game in the SEC this week, Muschamp's mud Lizards come swimming into the big cocktail party to meet Mark's Mutts from the Red Clay Country.

This is one of the two games that will decide who goes to Hotlanta in December to be beat to death by either Alabama or LSU and while that don't necessarily seem like a prize you'd want to win, it's one that these two teams feel like fighting for.

Can Brantley come back and bomb the Mutts or will Murray rip the Reptiles? There's a lot to be learned from the answer to these questions. But despite my precocious pug's persistence in persuading me to pick the pooches, with Brantley back, the Dogs are doomed.

Larry's Losers - Georgia

Ole Miss at Auburn

Chizik's Cat caravan not only got four flat tires last week at LSU, they got shaved, neutered and treated like a jail house bride. What they need right now is a team that will lay down and play dead for them.

Thank God for Auburn it's Ole Miss week. Nobody runs up the white flag like these runnin' Rebels and Houston Nutt's seat is sure to get a little hotter this week as the lack of talent is once again displayed for the football world.

It's not so much a game of who will lose, but how bad will they look in doing it?

Larry's Losers - Ole Miss

Well that's it for this week folks, next week is the big week in the SEC when we find out who will be this year's national champion.

Not that I'm SEC biased, but why should we stop winnin' 'em all with all this talent?

So till next week, just remember, cranky people make great ice cream churners so never fail to look at the bright side of things and the best in everybody.
