NFL Week 8 Predictions: Cleveland Browns and More Underdogs with Upset Potential

Alex KayOct 26, 2011

Last week, we saw a few upsets go down in the NFL and I think we’ll see even more this week.

The Falcons, Texans, Jets, Chiefs and especially the Jaguars pulled off solid upsets and rewarded those bettors who took a leap of faith and played them on the moneyline.

Let’s take a look at some teams who could pay off huge on a moneyline gamble this week.

Cleveland Browns (+350) at San Francisco 49ers

The Browns and 49ers don’t meet too often so you never know what to expect from these teams, who have been perennially terrible over the last few years.

While the 49ers seem to be a much more solid squad this year, you never know when Alex Smith will revert to his days as one of the worst QBs in football.

The Browns have potential to explode for a bonanza of points even though they haven’t shown it lately.

If things start bouncing Cleveland’s way, I think they could have a good shot at an upset.

Dallas Cowboys (+155) at Philadelphia Eagles

These two division rivals always play each other close. It was 14-13 in favor of Dallas in their last matchup and 30-27 Philadelphia in the one before that.

If I’m touching this game, it’s on the moneyline and I think the Cowboys are the way to go.

They have hung with elite teams like the Patriots, Lions and 49ers while the Eagles struggled against everyone but St. Louis.

Seattle Seahawks (+135) vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Seahawks are playing at home in front of their always-loud crowd and the Bengals won’t have Cedric Benson available.

This makes for an intriguing matchup to play straight up.

I expect the Seahawks to step up the intensity on offense this week, as they were only able to muster three measly points in their last outing.
