NFL Week 8 Picks: Who Are the League's Biggest Longshots?
This week, there are two teams that have absolutely no hope of winning.
Okay—they may have a small chance, but both squads are total longshots to pull out a victory.
The St. Louis Rams are 0-6. This weekend, they welcome the 5-2 New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees and company currently boast the second-best offense in the NFL, averaging 467.1 yards per game, while putting up a league-high 34.1 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Rams are giving up 410.3 yards per game, which ranks 29th in the league. In addition, they are surrendering 28.5 points per game, which is 31st in the NFL.
Considering how well New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has been playing, there is virtually no way St. Louis can slow down the Saints offense. No matter what the Rams do on offense themselves, they will not be able to keep up with New Orleans. They are easily the biggest longshot of Week 8.
On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins suffered what might be the most disappointing loss of the 2011 NFL season so far. The Dolphins were up 15-0 against the Denver Broncos. However, with less than three minutes to go, they ended up losing 18-15 in overtime. It was a terribly embarrassing loss for the players, coaches and franchise as a whole.
This weekend, Miami travels to MetLife Stadium to take on the 4-2 New York Giants. I don't see any way the team can bounce back after the disappointment from Week 7. It was the kind of loss that takes time to get over.
This weekend, expect the Dolphins to regress and look like a beaten team. With Matt Moore at quarterback, there wasn't much of a chance that Miami could get out of their tailspin anyway. However, even with an upgrade at the position, the Giants are good enough to beat the Dolphins on their worst day.
Tom Coughlin's team aren't particularly special, but they are far too good for Miami to overcome.
