5 Fights That Are Left for George St-Pierre at Welterweight
George St-Pierre, the current UFC Welterweight champion, has dominated nearly every opponent that's come his way since entering the UFC in 2004.
In fact, St-Pierre has posted a career UFC record of 16-2 and has revenged the only two men to have ever beaten him in Matt Hughes and Matt Serra.
With speculations of St-Pierre possibly making the transition to the Lightweight division, fans have one question.
Who's left for GSP to fight in the 170 lb. weight class?
The following slides display five fights that are still left for GSP in the Welterweight division.
Lets take a look.
Carlos Condit
1 of 5Carlos Condit is a no brainer as St-Pierre and Condit were previously scheduled to fight at UFC 137 prior to St-Pierre's knee injury.
Instead of replacing St-Pierre, UFC President Dana White decided to push the championship bout back until St-Pierre has recovered.
Condit has been on an absolute tear to the top of the Welterweight division winning four consecutive fights that include wins over Jake Ellenberger and Rory MacDonald.
Jon Fitch
2 of 5Jon Fitch is arguably more worthy of a Welterweight title shot than Carlos Condit as all Fitch has ever done is win.
And, despite coming up just short against St-Pierre at UFC 87, Fitch has proved he is more than worthy of a rematch as he hasn't lost since.
While Fitch may have received the shaft by the UFC over the past several years, he just may be the man to dethrone St-Pierre.
Jake Ellenberger
3 of 5Jake Ellenberger wouldn't have even been in this discussion prior to his bout with Jake Shields at a UFC Fight Night in September of 2011.
Ellenberger shocked many as he finished Shields in just 53 seconds of the very first round.
At just 26 years old, Ellenberger has now won five consecutive fights and nine of his last 10.
If the young heavy hitter can defeat Diego Sanchez at UFC 141, he'll have proved he is worthy of a match with the current champ.
Nick Diaz/BJ Penn
4 of 5Due to St-Pierre's injury occurring at the time it did , there's a chance the winner of Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn may have to fight once more before receiving a title shot.
Regardless, both Diaz and Penn have proved time and time again they are in the upper echelon of the Welterweight division.
Diaz had his opportunity before blowing off two press conferences leading up to his championship bout.
For Penn, although he's lost to St-Pierre twice in the past, the third time could be the charm.
Rory MacDonald
5 of 5Many fans across the UFC probably feel Rory MacDonald hasn't done enough to have earned himself a title shot with St-Pierre. And, they're right.
But, if MacDonald can defeat Brian Ebersole at UFC 140 in December, he'll have won three consecutive fights.
The St-Pierre product has only lost once in his career and could know St-Pierre better than any other Welterweight in the UFC.
