NFL Week 8 Picks: Which Results Could You Bet Your Life On?

Ryan PhillipsOct 26, 2011

There are two games this weekend that are absolute locks, and if you're going to lay down money on the NFL in Week 8, these are both solid bets.

The New Orleans Saints obliterated the winless Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, jumping to a ridiculous 62-7 win. This weekend, the Saints get to face another winless squad, as they travel to St. Louis to take on the 0-6 Rams.

The Saints currently boast the NFL's second-ranked offense, averaging 467.1 yards per game. New Orleans is also scoring a league-high 34.1 points per game and quarterback Drew Brees has the league's second-highest passer rating at 104.6.

St. Louis fans should be bracing for a blowout, because their team's defense has been just plain awful so far this season. The Rams currently rank 29th in total defense, as they are allowing 410.3 yards per game. On top of that, St. Louis is surrendering 28.5 points per game, which is 31st in the NFL.

That's a recipe for disaster for the Rams, as Brees and his offense should be able to rack up yards and points at a prolific rate. The Saints are going to have this one wrapped up by halftime.

The Miami Dolphins are another winless team that will remain so after Week 8, as they have to travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants. While the Giants are 4-2 and haven't been incredibly impressive, the Dolphins are still reeling from their debacle in Week 7.

Miami held a 15-0 lead with less than three minutes to go against the Denver Broncos and lost 18-15 in overtime. The loss dropped the Dolphins to 0-6 and was embarrassing for the players, coaches and management.

I think it will take the Dolphins a few weeks to recover from such an awful loss, so this weekend the Giants are a lock to win.
