Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez: Send in Your Official Predictions

King JOct 27, 2011

Alright, fight fans! Last Saturday was the premiere of the latest installment of HBO's 24/7, starring the biggest name in boxing—Manny Pacquiao—and his long-time rival and nemesis, the great Juan Manuel Marquez.

This can only mean one thing: that we will once again kick off our Official Bleacher Report Boxing Predictions Piece on next month's Pacquiao/Marquez fight, which takes place November 12 on HBO pay per view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

So, just as we have always done for all the super-mega fights, we will again do our ritual collaboration prediction piece, where we will award the top-two most accurate predictions that were first submitted to the Boxing Community Leader: KING J via private message.

We will now accept your official prediction statements only via private message and no longer email, since Deputy Editor Adam Hirshfield and I need to verify who you are on Bleacher Report and if you are currently eligible to participate in this official prediction contest piece, just as we last completed our collaboration prediction piece on Floyd Mayweather versus Victor Ortiz.

So once again, here are the requirements to participate in this collaboration prediction piece and qualify to win the prizes:

Who Is Eligible?

Just as we did in our previous collaboration official prediction articles as the boxing community leader, I will open this Pacquiao/Marquez prediction piece up to any featured columnist from any sports community here at Bleacher Report.

We will also open up the eligibility to any boxing community writers who are currently in the top-15 rankings. Writers should be consistently contributing to the boxing community via strong pieces and should be consistently active in commenting on boxing community articles.

If you are not currently ranked in the top-15 boxing writers rankings in the boxing community, then start writing and contributing articles to the boxing community right now and start climbing the ranks.

Requirements

1. You must be a featured columnist of ANY sports community here at Bleacher Report.

2. If you are not a featured columnist at Bleacher Report, you must be a member of the boxing community and a writer in good standing and currently ranked in the top-15 boxing writing rankings in the boxing community. (If you are not currently ranked in the top 15 rankings, then get writing right now!)

3. You must have a real photo of yourself as your profile picture. (I explained in the past why this is a must).

4. If you are a member of the boxing community, you must successfully complete a minimum of one boxing writing idea assignment assigned by Deputy Editor Adam Hirshfield prior to submitting your official prediction statement. If you are not on Adam's weekly assignment email list, please contact Adam to be added to that list. (We will confirm if you have completed one or more of Adam's weekly assignments in order to qualify to win the prizes)

5. Your official prediction statement must be anywhere from one to six sentences in length, completed and either private messaged to the the boxing community leader NO LATER THAN Monday, November 7 at 12:00 P.M. in order for it to be added to our collaboration piece.

6. If you would like to plug your individual sites or blogs, go ahead and write verbatim how you would like it to read. For example: "Jim Bob Featured Columnist, Jim Bob's Boxing Blog Editor."

Also, if you would like to include links to previous Pacquiao/Marquez articles that would further break down or elaborate your prediction, then definitely do so.

Prizes

The two top predictions—meaning the two closest predictions to the actual result of this fight—will win prizes.

So if you are going for a decision, you must include your actual score card as well. For example: "Marquez Unanimous Decision 118-110." Or if you are going for a KO, for example: "Pacquiao KO/TKO Round 11."

If several of you select the same exact prediction, then the two winners will be the first two to submit predictions to me via private message.

If none of you predicts the exact result, then the winners will be the two closest writers to the exact result.

The prizes this time will be announced after the fight. I will do my best to see what I can get as great prizes from the big fight event weekend.

So there you have it, fight fans and boxing experts. Get your official prediction statements private messaged to me no later then Monday, November 7, and again—the sooner the better, since we will  award prizes to the correct exact prediction, and if there are several of the same prediction, the winner is the first to submit a prediction.

Special Congratulations and Props Are In Order To:

Our previous contest winners who have won fight shirts and RING magazines: Featured columnists Blake Dreisbach, Dave Carlson and Stewart Flaherty are all one-time champions in the Official Bleacher Report Boxing Prediction Contests and are looking to become two-time champions!

If there are any further questions/comments/concerns please feel free to contact me.

Best of luck to everyone. Let's show the world that we are once again boxing experts and win these prizes!
