When Did Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson Become Grumpy Old Men?
Nobody likes grumpy old men.
It seems those who have had their day in the sun would be happy to watch others follow in their footsteps and applaud them, but this sentiment seems to be missing in the minds of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson.
Jordan and Johnson are arguably the two most exciting basketball players to ever take the court. The numbers don't lie. They both have multiple titles, MVPs and generations of fans. They were great for the NBA—exceptional, even.
What is puzzling is their lack of support for today's NBA stars. Many of today's All-Stars have given tribute to Jordan and Johnson (one in particular even donning the former's jersey number). The legacy of Jordan and Magic is secure, so there is no reason for them to be insecure.
However, the two continue to take shot after shot at today's NBA stars. Jordan has often said he would dominate today's game, even score 100 points in a game. Jordan is also yet to give Kobe Bryant his due. When asked where Bryant ranks all time, MJ said Bryant is among the top-10 shooting guards of all time.
Come on, MJ! Kobe Bryant is among the greatest to ever play, and Jordan simply couldn't admit it.
Magic, on the other hand, has made his favorite whipping boy the King himself, LeBron James. Magic continues to scoff at the notion that James is an all-time great and even believes James will never win a title.
Dear Michael and Magic, you guys are legends but have become grumpy as your spotlight fades. The best thing to do is cheer on today's stars because they may soon pass you both.
