Hope Solo: Goalie Lucks out in Avoiding Elimination on Dancing with the Stars
Take a big sigh of relief, Hope.
The U.S. women’s soccer star was oh so close to getting cut from season 13 of Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night, but was spared by her loyal voting fan base.
Chaz Bono was the unlucky contestant to get his walking papers.
It was the closest call yet for Hope, who had previously been improving each-and-every week before a setback on Monday. Looking nervous and stiff, the goalie registered a 20-out-of-30—her worst score of the show.
It was bad enough for head judge Len Goodman to utter this harsh comment: “This is your worst dance of the whole season.” Not exactly what you want to hear just seconds after a performance.
Solo’s dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy quickly went to her defense, shouting back at Goodman. So now Solo, who looked incredibly rattled on Monday, has to re-group quickly.
Clearly the rumba rendition didn’t work, so it’s back to the drawing board. More than anything else, Solo needs to exude more confidence on the dance floor.
At times it’s cringe-worthy to watch her nervously try and twirl around stage. She needs to find a stronger comfortable level, or next week will be her last.
But that’s the beauty of this contest; every week is a new one and all of the contestants are now even again.
David Arquette and J.R. Martinez, reality TV personality Rob Kardashian, and TV hosts Ricki Lake and Nancy Grace all still remain in addition to Hope.
It will be fascinating to see the energy and confidence Hope displays now that she knows how close to the end she may be.
Knowing how much of a competitor she is…expect a big-time bounce-back performance.
