NFL Picks Week 8: Why Michael Vick Will Beat Dallas Cowboys in NFC East Showdown

Nicholas GossOct 26, 2011

Michael Vick will lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a crucial NFC East win on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys and steer his team's season in the right direction.

Coming off a bye week after beating the Washington Redskins in Week 6 to break a four-game losing streak, the Eagles host the Cowboys in a game that could make or break their season.

With a loss, the Eagles would fall to 2-5 and remain in last place in the division, but a victory would improve them to 3-4, which would be the same record as the Cowboys.

Vick's passing attack will be effective against the Cowboys on Sunday, and he will have his aerial assault opened up by the rushing of star running back LeSean McCoy.

The Eagles, mainly because of McCoy, have the NFL's best rushing attack with 170 yards per game on the ground.

The Eagles offense has been pretty good this season, and the key for Sunday and the rest of the season is limiting turnovers. Turnovers have killed the Eagles, and that kind of carelessness with the football will cost them this week if they give the Cowboys prime scoring chances.

Vick threw four interceptions against the Buffalo Bills in a loss earlier in the season and has eight total picks on the year, after he had six all of last season.

To help protect Vick, the Eagles offensive line and their running backs will block well to keep him upright. If Vick has enough time to throw in the pocket, he is capable of carving up the Cowboys secondary.

On defense, the Eagles have enough quality cornerbacks to defend the multitude of quality Cowboys receivers such as Miles Austin and Dez Bryant.

The Eagles will also try to pressure Tony Romo in the pocket and make him uncomfortable and have to hurry throws.

Philadelphia needs this game to save its season, and with their backs against the wall, the Eagles will beat the Cowboys on Sunday and rejoin the NFC East title race.
