NFL Picks Week 8: Why Tim Tebow Will Lead Broncos to Upset Win over Lions

Nicholas GossOct 26, 2011

The Tim Tebow train is running at full speed right now, and the Detroit Lions will not be able to halt it on Sunday.

The Denver Broncos quarterback will lead his team to an upset win against the banged-up Lions, who may be without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Stafford isn't sure if he'll play Sunday against the Broncos, which could be bad for Detroit.

“We’re treating it, doing the best we can, trying to get it as healthy as possible for a chance to try and play this week,” Stafford said on the radio.

If Stafford doesn't play, the Lions are in a lot of trouble. Drew Stanton would likely start at quarterback, and that spells trouble for the Lions.

Calvin Johnson won't be as effective with Stanton throwing him the ball, and without a good running game now that Jahvid Best is recovering from a concussion, the Lions offense could be in trouble without Stafford at quarterback.

The Lions have a great defensive line, led by Ndamukong Suh, but Tebow is one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the NFL

Tebow has the ability to maneuver through the pockets when it inevitably collapses, and can easily turn a 10-yard loss on a sack into a 10-yard gain and a first down.

Tebow won't light up the stat sheet or be a touchdown machine on Sunday, but he will have the Broncos in a good position to win the game in the fourth quarter.

The Lions will have a tougher time with the Broncos than people think, whether Matthew Stafford plays or not.

Tebow will score just enough points on Sunday to win the Broncos the game, and score the best upset of his young career.

The Tim Tebow train is rolling right now, and even the powerful Detroit Lions won't be able to stop it.
