Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Miles Austin and Others Who Will Disappoint

Tim KeeneyOct 25, 2011

Here's a look at three fantasy studs who could easily disappoint in Week 8.

Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles' Pro Bowl corners haven't quite lived up to their potential this year, but they have still managed to have one of the better pass-defenses in the NFL.

If they ever start playing at their ceilings, pass-offenses are going to have a lot of trouble.

This is all just a way, of course, to say that there is a ton of talent in Philly's secondary. Of course, with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin, there is a ton of talent on Dallas' offense as well.

I think Philly will win the battle of strengths in this one. Bryant probably won't have a great game either, but he has at least had a role in this offense in the past two weeks.

Austin only received five targets last week, which resulted in a meager two catches for 16 yards.

Beanie Wells, Arizona Cardinals

Wells is suffering from a knee injury right now, and his status for Week 8 is still uncertain, but even if he does play you probably want to keep him on the bench.

The Cardinals travel to face a Ravens defense that is incredibly stout against the run (3.3 yards per carry). Not only will Wells have trouble getting going but the Cardinals will also probably turn to the pass when they fall behind early.

I don't trust Wells this week, and I certainly don't trust any backup who gets his carries.

Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers

It just seems that the Steelers are moving more to the passing game, and against a porous New England secondary they will likely throw a lot.

Mendenhall is obviously the feature back, but they have gotten away from him a lot this season. It could happen again in this one.
