Colorado vs. Arizona State: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time and More

Alex KayOct 25, 2011

Arizona State is hosting the Colorado Buffaloes at Sun Devil Stadium this Saturday and will continue the Pac-12 welcoming tour for CU.

The Sun Devils have suffered two tough losses to ranked teams this year, while CU is getting beat by seemingly everyone.

I doubt anything changes this week, as ASU should roll, but you never know when two conference teams play another.

Key Storyline

The Sun Devils are coming off a bye and looking to move up in the BCS rankings.

The team has two tough losses to Oregon and Illinois (in overtime) and should be healthy and rested to dominate Colorado.

Now that the Buffaloes are in the Pac-12, they have yet to win a game against a conference opponent.

Could ASU be their first victim? I doubt it but we will see.

Who Might Not Play for Colorado (via CollegeInjuryReport.com)

QB Tyler Hansen, QST (Concussion): Redshirt freshman Nick Hirschman replaced Hansen after he suffered a concussion against Oregon. This would be a major blow to the Buffaloes’ small upset chance if Hansen can’t go as expected.

DE Junior Onyeall, OUT (Knee): The sophomore defensive Pac-12 freshman of the year last season tore meniscus in his knee against Illinois and has yet to return to the field. The team is hoping he will be ready in a week or two.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

Arizona is currently ranked No. 21 in the BCS polls and is hoping to move up to play in a better bowl.

They are also on path to win the Pac-12 South since USC is ineligible for postseason play and is their only real competition in the division.

I expect ASU to dominate this game, as they prepare to play Stanford or Oregon once again in the inaugural Pac-12 Championship game.

What They're Saying

Brock Osweiler told the ASU State Press that he has learned a lot since losing the overtime road game to Illinois.

"

“A lot of their blitzes were something we hadn’t seen all of last year and this year,” he said. “At the time I didn’t understand what they were doing; I just knew I was getting hit every play. Then I saw the tape and figured out what was going on. USC gave us some of those same looks, so I changed the protections and we had big plays down the field.”

"

Colorado DE Will Pericak is stressing the importance of his team getting to Osweiler to The Denver Post.

"

“With his height, he definitely has good vision on the field," Pericak said Tuesday. "A lot of the smaller quarterbacks, you know they're going to be out of the pocket, trying to run around so they can see downfield. But he doesn't have to run around to see. Even if we get our hands up, he can see over us. It makes it that much more important to get to the quarterback, to hit him and make his throws so that they're not routine."

"

Colorado Player to Watch: Paul Richardson

The sophomore WR for the Buffaloes is going to need to have a big game if their team wants any chance of winning.

He’ll need to step up big if Tyler Hansen is sitting out and freshman Nick Hirschman has to start.

Arizona State State Player to Watch: Brock Osweiler

Osweiler is a 6'8" athletic, beastly QB who has turned the Sun Devils from a joke to a contender this season.

If he can continue his maturation, look for the Devils to be playing in a great bowl game.

Key Matchup: ASU offense vs. Colorado defense

If Colorado can get some stops on defense, they’ll have a shot at making some plays on the offensive end.

They need to play sound, smart football, but ASU is just a superior team all-around.

There is no nicer way to put this than saying it is simply a one-sided matchup.
