Tim Tebow vs. Matthew Stafford Weekend: Bragging Rights on the Line
The Detroit Lions (5-2) and Denver Broncos (2-4) will face off Sunday afternoon inside Sports Authority Field at Mile High, and one quarterback will already have major bragging rights.
Matthew Stafford and Tim Tebow will definitely have their eyes glued to the television for Saturday's Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators contest due to being former participants in the Southeastern Conference rivalry.
Florida won two of three with Tebow on the roster against Georgia's Stafford, including a 49-10 blowout win as 7.5-point neutral-site favorites when the two last met on Nov. 1, 2008.
Oddsmakers have established the Lions as 3.5-point road favorites, but some have been reluctant to post betting odds on the contest due to Stafford's ankle injury that he suffered last week in a 23-16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
The Mile High City will be rocking regardless in anticipation of Tebow creating magic on the football field, coming off an exciting 18-15 come-from-behind road victory in overtime versus the Miami Dolphins.
He will certainly be inspired in making his second start of the 2011 NFL campaign, but bettors should keep a close eye on Saturday's result at Everbank Field in Jacksonville, FL.
Something tells me that the winning collegiate program on that field will provide extra inspiration for one of the young signal-callers featured in Denver.
Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz stated on Monday that the team's offensive leader in the huddle is day-to-day, but nothing will keep him out of this game, especially coming in on a two-game losing streak.
It will be a Stafford-Tebow football weekend and all of us will be spectators.
