Arkansas vs. Vanderbilt: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time and More

Eric BowmanOct 25, 2011

A battle of SEC East vs. SEC West takes place this Saturday, when the Vanderbilt Commodores will give it their all against the No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Commodores just ended their three-game losing streak with a win over Army, and now they will look win their second conference game.

The Razorbacks, on the other hand, hope to avoid their second loss in SEC play. Arkansas is currently on a three game win streak, and the Razorbacks are making great strides towards reaching a BCS Bowl for the second year in a row.

With that said, let's dig into some specifics of this SEC showdown.

When: Saturday, Oct. 29 at 12:21 p.m. ET

Where: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, TN

Watch: SEC Network, ESPN3.com

Listen: KQSM 92.1 FM in Fayetteville, WRQQ 97.1 FM in Nashville

Spread

The Razorbacks are favored at -11, and they shouldn't have any trouble covering. The Commodores have shown signs of life this season, but the Razorbacks offense will be too daunting.

Yes, Ole Miss just gave the Razorbacks a hard time, but Arkansas will turn it around and remind everyone why the Commodores remain at the bottom of the conference.

Arkansas Injury Report

Nothing significant as of right now, but a few days ago, running back Kody Walker underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his leg. He is out indefinitely.

Vanderbilt Injury Report

Defensive tackle  T.J. Greenstone (leg) sat out for the second game in a row, but the Razorbacks are hopeful he will return, and the same goes for safety Javon Marshall (shoulder).

BCS/Top 25 Implications

The Commodores are a long shot to reach the Top 25, but a win over the No. 10 team in the country would certainly help their status.

For the Razorbacks, they need an impressive win to help with the computers, but if they lose, then their dreams of a BCS Bowl are likely over. Their struggles against Ole Miss saw them drop a spot in the BCS.

It will be hard for the SEC to get three teams in the BCS, which is why the Razorbacks need to win the rest of their conference games, including LSU at the end of the season.

What They're Saying

The Razorbacks overcame a 17-point deficit against Ole Miss to get their sixth win of the season, which is something very few people expected.

After the game, Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino told reporters he wasn't happy with the way his team played at first, but he was glad how they adjusted to adversity. Per FOX Sports:

"

"I was very happy with the way our team responded. I think the touchdown before the half helped us a lot. It was good to get the ball back coming back from halftime.

You saw the energy of the players. You saw playmakers make plays, and that really helped."

"

A Top 10 team in the country shouldn't have been so sluggish against Ole Miss, but in the end, the Razorbacks came out on top, and that's what matters. Perhaps they thought they had the game in the bag, and the Rebels caught them by surprise.

Vanderbilt's new QB Jordan Rodgers, whose older brother is Aaron Rodgers, QB of the Green Bay Packers, told The Tennessean that he wants to be known for his arm and not his legs.

"

"Definitely not a run-first quarterback. That’s not something I want to bank on doing. There’s a couple of situations on film where I’d like to stay in the pocket for a half-second longer and deliver the ball. I definitely want to be a pass-first quarterback."

"

A few weeks ago against Georgia, Rodgers rushed for 80 yards, and this past week against Army, he ran for 96 yards.

Sometimes you have to go with watch works, and if there is space open, then Rodgers will more than likely run. The junior QB is filing in for injured Larry Smith at the moment.

It will be interesting to see if he holds on the ball more in the pocket to let the play develop or if previous instincts kick in and he takes off running.

Arkansas Player to Watch

Tyler Wilson completed just 44 percent of his passes last week, and it was the first time he didn't throw a touchdown pass this season. He was clearly off his game against Ole Miss, and the Razorbacks need him to turn things around or they could be in trouble again.

Vanderbilt Player to Watch

Rodgers is definitely a player to watch, but in order for Vanderbilt to have big success, running back Zac Stacy has to play just as well if not better than he did a week ago.

Stacy rushed for 198 yards, but had he surpassed 200, he would have been the first Vanderbilt running back to accomplish that feat in 33 years.

Key Matchup

The Commodores had a break from stopping the pass last week since Army only threw the ball three times last week, which is why Saturday's key matchup is Vanderbilt's secondary vs. the arm and brain of Tyler Wilson.

The Razorbacks QB was far from himself last week. He wasn't thinking as he made awful throws for the majority of the game. The last time the Commodores faced a QB with an arm, they gave up over 300 yards passing to Aaron Murray.

Wilson shouldn't have much trouble succeeding, but if he beats himself, then Vanderbilt has a chance.

Key Storyline

Will the Commodores do the unthinkable and upset the Razorbacks? Vanderbilt beat Ole Miss in a blow out, which makes one wonder if Arkansas will once again be forced to win a close game.

The Razorbacks are far more talented, but they could be feeling a hangover after their narrow victory last weekend. If they start slow, then the Commodores have a fighting chance.

Prediction

The Razorbacks will come out on top here because Petrino will have his squad ready to avoid another week of embarrassment. Vanderbilt has been good at home this year, but this is easily the Commodores' toughest home test of the season so far.

Tyler Wilson redeems himself and throws three touchdowns to boost his confidence, as well as the rest of the Razorbacks.

Arkansas 33, Vanderbilt 17
