NFL Power Rankings Week 8: Who Are the Top 10 Teams in the League?
Week 8 NFL power rankings are being released across all the major sports media sites today, and I've constructed a list of my very own.
While it's fun to see which team has moved up the most and which teams are "battling" in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, many just want to know who the top 10 teams in football...
1. Green Bay Packers

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
No questioning this one..
Aaron Rodgers is leading the most precise yet dangerous offense in football, and it hasn't matter how badly the secondary has been. No one can keep up.
2. New England Patriots
They travel to Pittsburgh for an AFC showdown this week—a game that'll give us a better idea of how great both teams really are.
Right now, the Patriots are clicking on offense and are starting to make the critical plays on defense.
3. New Orleans Saints
After their disappointing defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers last week, the Saints took care of business in a big way against the Colts in Week 7. They get the Rams in Week 8. New Orleans to 6-2.
Another unstoppable offense, especially with their greatly improving run game.
4. San Francisco 49ers
The lone, defensive-minded, run-first team in the top five. Alex Smith has done a great job managing the game and making the critical throws when needed, but it's been the sixth-ranked rushing attack and the second-ranked run defense that has led the 49ers to their 5-1 record.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers
Following a 2-2 start, the Steelers have rattled off three straight and have fought through injuries. Big Ben's offensive line has gotten much better, and the defense is playing up to its usual standards. Don't forget about Mike Wallace, or he'll burn you for a deep score.
6. Detroit Lions
This is probably the highest you'll see the Lions after their two-game losing streak. They were exposed by two good NFC teams, and Matthew Stafford hasn't been the same player he was during their 5-0 start. They cannot run the football and or stop the run, and Stafford could be out with yet another injury.
7. San Diego Chargers
What happened in the second half against the Jets? Where are the typical, MVP-type numbers from Philip Rivers?
Can the safeties make plays?
8. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are lucky they're still even in my top 10 after their putrid and totally humiliating performance against the 1-5 Jaguars last night on national television. Who made this primetime schedule, anyway?
How can you only give Ray Rice eight carries? Never have been sold on Joe Flacco, and this game furthered my belief that he's an average quarterback with a good defense.
9. New York Giants
The Giants are coming off their bye and are getting healthy. Look out. Eli Manning has limited his mistakes, the defensive line is among the most terrorizing in the league, and the ground game is steadily improving.
10. Houston Texans
The Texans looked like the Super Bowl contender we thought they were against the Titans on Sunday. Their offensive line paves major holes for Arian Foster and Ben Tate. When Andre Johnson returns, this offense is right up there with all the other top units in the league.
