Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Daniel Thomas and RBs That Will Disappoint

T.J. McaloonOct 25, 2011

The running back position on your fantasy football roster probably either won or lost you your fantasy football game last week.

If you had the insight to pick up Demarco Murray for the Cowboys game against the St. Louis Rams, well congratulations to your right call on starting the guy who probably won your fantasy game by himself.

But, if you had a running back like Daniel Thomas starting on your roster, well, you should have read my past work and knew to stay away from the Dolphins running back.

This week, just like every other week in the NFL, there are running backs that you should start with extreme confidence, and there are running backs that you should run away from.

These are the three running backs that will haunt your fantasy team on the day before Halloween.

Daniel Thomas, Miami Dolphins

Until Thomas proves me wrong he will be a running back to stay away from. Since the Dolphins bye week, Thomas has had two games where he has had no more than 50 yards and less than 20 carries with zero scores.

That’s two games where he averaged five to six points.

This week, the Dolphins have to play a rested New York Giants defense that will make for another Thomas lack luster game. Sit Daniel, release Daniel, do whatever you have to do to rid yourself of this running back.

Rashard Mendenhall

If you are still holding onto Mendenhall on your fantasy roster, well, kudos to you. The Pittsburgh running back has frustrated his owners by playing horrible this year. He’s had one good game, out of the six he has played in.

That’s one good game for a guy that probably went in your first round of your draft. That does not equate into a worthy first-round draft choice.

This week, the Steelers go against the good rushing defense of New England, which features two of the best defensive tackles in the league.

Whoever Is Starting on Detroit or Denver

This is a blanket statement to the Lions and Broncos game. It looks like the Lions will be without Jahvid Best and Denver lost Willis Mcgahee to a broken hand last week.

So stay away from whoever happens to start for Detroit, either Kelland Williams or Maurice Morris, as they’ll split carries. And if the Broncos go with Knowshon Moreno, he will do absolutely nothing for your team.

Stay away from this whole game and from the other two running backs listed above. They will give you more tricks than treats.
