Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Drew Brees and Top 4 QBs

John RozumOct 25, 2011

It seems like QBs are setting new passing records each week. That said, it only makes it more difficult to rank them on a weekly basis.

However, match-ups are very crucial to how fantasy football plays out. Therefore, here are the Top 4 QBs of Week 8 to help give perspective.

4. Tony Romo, Cowboys (at Eagles)

It's a big game for Romo and the 'Boys as it is for the Eagles and Mike Vick. Needless to say though, Dallas is getting healthier and rolling with the most confidence in the NFC East.

Romo's WRs are more healthy, they have a stud RB in DeMarco Murray, whereas Philly's defense still has a lot of questions to answer because beating Washington doesn't prove anything.

Philly's defense has been burned before this season through the air, and now the Dallas is beginning to roll, don't expect anything other than dominance from Tony Romo.

3. Tom Brady, Patriots (at Steelers)

Throughout the past decade if there's any one player who's had the Pittsburgh Steelers' number, it's Pats' QB Tom Brady. It seems every time he lines up against The Steel Curtain no matter how good they are, Brady always gets the best of them.

Well, much will be the same this week as Pittsburgh's pass defense only ranks high because they're allowing much more yards on the ground. New England will have success in both aspects, but Brady will once again be the main attraction and shred a vulnerable Steelers' secondary.

In addition, New England is coming off a bye-week and the Steelers just gave up 257 passing yards to Kevin Kolb. Advantage Brady.

2. Cam Newton, Panthers (vs Vikings)

This is an interesting matchup because the Vikings and Panthers are almost exact replicas. Both have lost numerous close games, start a rookie QB, and have one big weakness on each side of the ball. That being said, Cam Newton has proven to slice opposing pass defenses.

Sure he may have struggled on the road in Atlanta, but lets not forget, he's still a rookie so that is going to happen. Minnesota though, has an extremely susceptible pass defense and Newton has solid targets to hit.

Not to mention, Carolina has both wins at home (thus they play better there), and Minnesota struggles on the road more than normal at home.

1. Drew Brees, Saints (at Rams)

The only concern with the Saints is that Drew Brees does have a tendency to throw picks, and New Orleans has shown to be a much weaker team on the road.

In any event however, the Rams are arguably the league's worst team and if Washington can win in St. Louis, pretty sure New Orleans can. To that end, don't expect anything less than extreme precision from Brees as he got back on track against Indy last week.

Sure, it was the Colts, but QBs need those types of games to get a sense of validation because what if Brees were to struggle against Indy? You think he'd be going into a road game with more confidence than a home game?

Nonetheless, The Big Easy will prove to be flawless once again, just hope that you're opponent this week doesn't have Brees.
