TNA News: Hulk Hogan Rumored to Return to the Ring in 2012
According to WrestleHeat.com, "The Immortal One" may be returning to the ring in 2012.
The article reports, "TNA Wrestling is looking to once again put Hulk Hogan back into the ring, this time in a tag-team match pitting him partnering with Eric Bischoff’s son Garett to face off against Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff.
"There is no definite timetable for the match to take place, but reports are surfacing that it may take place at Lockdown in April of next year," WrestleHeat.com said.
As much as I hate this news, I love it.
Hogan is an icon in wrestling and was the first wrestler to transcend into mainstream media. The man can still sell even with his back issues.
Don't get me wrong, Bound For Glory may not have been Hogan's best match. However, it showed that as much as fans complain about him taking TV time, they still want to see Hogan fight.
I, for one, fall into that category, as I don't want him to continually get hurt. However, he exudes a ridiculous energy that fans can't help but "mark out" for him.
At BFG, Hogan got the biggest pop of the night. And, let's not forget, he entered the event portraying a heel persona.
Once he turned, the crowd went nuts, and Hogan once again proved you can't have a match follow his. Sadly, the crowd wasn't as juiced for Angle/Roode as they were after Hogan's match ended.
So, if this indeed comes to fruition, it may help TNA more than hurt it.
Hogan could pull an Undertaker and work on a limited wrestling basis. It would help draw interest and possibly pay-per-view buys.
TNA has a lot of steam right now, and if it does things right, it can push this forward and really gain some momentum.
Let's face it: TNA is not going to overtake the WWE any time soon. But, it could solidify itself as a solid No. 2 instead of a questionable No. 2.
