Tim DanielsOct 25, 2011

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount has missed the last two games with a knee injury and will use the team's bye week to continue treatment. His status for Week 9, which is an important division game against the New Orleans Saints, is uncertain.

Not only will Blount start for the Bucs, he will also serve as the team's third-down back with Earnest Graham (Achilles) out for the season, according to St. Petersburg Times' Rick Stroud.

"

"LeGarrette Blount is back. Back as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starting tailback. Back as the third down back. Back as the every down back he hoped to be when the season started."

"

Blount worked this offseason on improving his hands and is a must-start as Tampa Bay's only reliable option out of the backfield.

The Bucs' official Twitter page Tweeted that Raheem Morris is confident that LeGarrette will be good to go following the bye week. The Bucs were able to take down the Saints behind Earnest Graham in their first meeting. With Graham going down last week, they can't afford to have Blount of the lineup.

Great news regarding Blount today, as he was spotted on the practice field for the Buccaneers. There was a lot of speculation about how long Blount would be out, but the folks that run Tampa Bay Online tweeted out some fantastic information about Blount.

A few hours later, they sent out another tweet with Buccaneers' head coach Raheem Morris' thoughts on the health of Blount.

Fantasy players that have Blount on their team were very discouraged when he got hurt, but it now appears Blount will be playing some football soon.

This is also good news for the Buccaneers since they just lost veteran Earnest Graham. They're thin at running back right now, but with a bye this week Blount will get some much needed rest.

Definitely keep him on your team for now, or if someone mistakenly dropped him in your league then act fast and pick him up.

We'll continue to monitor his status since the Buccaneers don't play until Week 9, but things are looking up for Blount. Should something go wrong though, you might want to consider adding Kregg Lumpkin next week.

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune took a look at the Buccaneers' growing list of injuries and explained how the bye week couldn't have come at a better time. He also provided a status update on Blount.

"

McCoy practiced twice during the week leading up to Sunday's game and was listed as questionable, though he did not play. The Bucs are hopeful he and Blount will play against the Saints in two weeks.

"

There's still a lot of time between now and the Saints game, so things can certainly change, but at least things are trending in the right direction. Blount will have had nearly a month off following the bye week.
