Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Tom Brady and Michael Vick Return to Lead QBs

Eric BowmanOct 25, 2011

Quarterbacks can easily be the death of you in fantasy football, but thankfully some big-name players are returning in Week 8.

If you relied on Joe Flacco has your backup this past week, chances are you may have lost. For that, I feel for you. Thankfully, my opponent decided not to play a QB at all, so Flacco's awful showing on Monday night didn't hurt me as bad as I thought it would.

If you weren't as fortunate, luckily some great QBs are back to steal the show. Here are the top QBs in fantasy football for Week 8.

Tom Brady

Well rested and ready to go, Brady must now hit the road to take on a talented Pittsburgh Steelers team. It's a matchup of top-five teams, and how it's not in a primetime slot just blows my mind.

Yes, the Steelers have a fantastic defense, but don't think for a second Brady is going to flop in Week 8. After their bye week, the New England Patriots are going to be on point and scoring a lot of points.

The Steelers offense will be as well, which means if you have Big Ben, you'll be in good hands. However, Brady will be the QB that shines bright on Sunday afternoon, and his fantasy owners will be glad to have him back.

A week off is just what Michael Vick needed, as he will be healthy and ready to score a ton of points for his fantasy owners. The Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, and they will need Vick to be on his A-game.

At 2-4, the Eagles cannot afford to lose this game, which is why Vick will be tearing it up in primetime. The Cowboys excel at stopping the run, so expect a Vick and DeSean Jackson to connect on the deep ball, and, of course, Vick will make plays with his feet.

The Eagles are desperate for a win, and Vick will deliver it for his fans fantasy owners against one of Philadelphia's most hated rivals.

Cam Newton

The rookie sensation picked up his second win of the season on Sunday, which gives him great confidence moving forward. Newton gets another home game in Week 8 when he takes on the struggling Minnesota Vikings.

Once again, Newton will be one of the top fantasy football scorers this weekend, as he torches the Vikings with his arm and his legs. The No. 1 overall pick is the Panthers' goal-line option, and he and Steve Smith are playing great together.

Nobody expected this from Newton, but here he is shinning brighter than the sun. He needs to start winning more, which will happen when he dominates Minnesota for his second straight victory.

Rounding out my top five would be Drew Brees and Tim Tebow for Week 8. Brees was on fire last week, and he won't have much trouble at St. Louis against the winless Rams. Tebow was awful until the end, but he will be much better at home against the depleting Detroit Lions.
