Bucks-Suns: Milwaukee's Last Chance

Jesse MotiffDec 9, 2008

Tonight is the last chance for the Milwaukee Bucks. No, it isn't their last chance to salvage their season; it's their last chance to salvage me as a loyal fan for the rest of the year.

The Bucks head to Phoenix to face the Suns. The Bucks have lost 20 straight games to the Suns in Phoenix. That's right, 20 straight losses in the desert. February 21, 1987 was the last time the Bucks were victorious after leaving Phoenix.

That was the day I turned eight. I turn 30 in a couple months.

The Bucks are coming off of an awful performance against the Lakers on Sunday night. The starting five scored 18 total points. That's two points less than Kobe put up for the night.

Now I don't need the Bucks to win tonight's game for me to keep following them, but I do need to see a different team from what I've seen the past few games.

I need to see a Bucks team that never stops hustling. I need to see Michael Redd be a true "team player," not the selfish ball hog, jump shooter I've seen lately.

Redd constantly professes to be willing to do whatever it takes to make the Bucks a winner. The talking needs to stop and the action needs to start. I don't want to see Redd launch a three pointer as soon as he gets a pass. I want to see ball movement and the offense find the open man, no matter who that may be.

I still want to see Ramon Sessions as the starter on this team. Good things happen when Sessions is on the floor. He creates his own shots, he can get to the hoop and he does a great job at distributing the ball.

I really enjoy watching Luc Richard Mbah a Moute play. He is turning into a very good defender and I liked some of what I saw when he guarded Kobe. Anything from him in the offense is a bonus for me.

Mostly, I just want to see a team that looks like they care. I know Scott Skiles cares. I see him battling the referees for his team trying to make sure the Bucks get the calls they should. I see fans coming to the Bradley Center to watch a sub .500 team and cheer their hearts out for them.

Now, it's all on the players. Show that you care that much and I might not be the only fan you keep for the rest of the year.
