NFL Power Rankings: St. Louis Rams and Teams Doomed to Remain Cellar Dwellers

Mike ChiariOct 25, 2011

As we reach the midway point of the NFL season, it is starting to become increasingly obvious which teams simply don't have what it takes. There is still time to turn things around, but several squads have already dug themselves too big of a hole.

Here are three teams doomed to remain cellar dwellers.

The 1-5 Cardinals played Pittsburgh tough in Week 7 but ultimately came up short and lost running back Beanie Wells to injury. Things certainly won't get any easier in Week 8 against an angry Baltimore team.

The Ravens were embarrassed on Monday night by Jacksonville and will be in an awful mood this coming Sunday. Baltimore's offense looked awful against the Jags, but the Cardinals are unlikely to put up much resistance, so a blowout could be in the making.

Indianapolis Colts

It was very obvious prior to last week that the Colts weren't a very good team without Peyton Manning. Despite that, the 0-7 Colts came close to winning on several occasions.

That wasn't the case in Week 7 as they were obliterated by the Saints. The Tennessee Titans are coming off a bad loss to the Houston Texans and will need to bounce back against Indianapolis. That is bad news for the Colts.

St. Louis Rams

The Rams fell to 0-6 without the services of quarterback Sam Bradford this past weekend. Even if he is able to give it a go in Week 8, however, 0-7 is likely with the dominant New Orleans Saints coming to town.

New Orleans is coming off a 62-7 dismantling of Indianapolis, and while a letdown is a possibility, the Saints have to know that the Rams are a team they have to beat, and I think they'll do so handily.
