NFL Week 8 Picks: Baltimore Ravens and 3 Teams That Will Rebound After Defeat

Ryan RudnanskyOct 25, 2011

Headed into Monday Night Football in Week 7, you could have predicted the Baltimore Ravens would hold the Jacksonville Jaguars to 12 points.

What you couldn't have predicted was for the Ravens' offense to score seven points and actually lose the game.

The Ravens were a top-five team headed into Week 7, but now I don't know what to think. One thing I do know is that they're a better team than they showed against the Jaguars.

Here are three teams bound to rebound.

Tennessee Titans (3-3)

The Titans sport a solid defense and a good passing game, but neither showed up in Week 7 against the Houston Texans.

The Titans were actually favored at home headed into Week 7, but all they did was lose, 41-7, getting torched by quarterback Matt Schaub and running back Arian Foster.

The star who once was running back Chris Johnson has yet to appear and the Titans just suffered an embarrassing loss.

The good news? They face the 0-7 Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. The Colts just lost to the New Orleans Saints, 62-7 (not a misprint).

Detroit Lions (5-2)

After starting the season 5-0, the Lions have lost their last two games against the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons.

The biggest issue for the Lions is their rush defense, giving up 5.0 yards per carry so far this season. They allowed 122 rushing yards against Falcons running back Michael Turner in Week 7.

But despite some holes in the armor, the Lions are still a very good team overall. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is likely to be back in Week 8 after suffering an ankle injury in Week 7 and the Lions are facing the 2-4 Denver Broncos.

Baltimore Ravens (4-2)

The Ravens simply played a bad game on offense in Week 7 against the Jaguars.

For one, there is no way star running back Ray Rice should get eight carries in a game. Secondly, quarterback Joe Flacco has struggled this season, but he's too talented to play like this for long. And third, the Ravens play the 1-5 Arizona Cardinals in Week 8.

The Ravens' passing game still needs to get going, but for now they are still a very good team led by a sterling defense. There's no way they lose to the Cardinals after a letdown in Jacksonville.
