Ravens vs. Jaguars: Baltimore Lacks Offensive Firepower to be Elite Team

Michael MillOct 25, 2011

If we learned anything from last night's game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens, it's that Baltimore lacks the offensive power to be an elite team this season.

Teams can win with defense. The Ravens have won for a very long time with defense.

That said, every defense needs some help from the offense.

It's help that they aren't getting from the Baltimore Ravens offense.

Last night, the Jaguars upset the Ravens, 12-7.

The Ravens are doing nothing but making mistakes on the offensive side of the ball.

In the first half of the Monday Night Football game, the Ravens offense had just 16 yards on 25 plays. They had no first downs.

The defense has played well over the first seven weeks of the season. They are the sole reason that the team is even sitting at a 4-2 record.

They have held teams to an average of just 13.8 points per game and have forced turnovers that have resulted in the majority of the Ravens' points.

Joe Flacco has been wildly inconsistent at the quarterback position. He is currently completing just 56.9 percent of his passes.

Ray Rice is not off to his typical start at the running back position. He has struggled to get a lot going.

Anquan Boldin is the only wide receiver on the team with more than 10 receptions.

What's going to happen when this defense can't hold opposing offenses? There is no way this Ravens team will be able to keep up.
