Tarvaris Jackson Injury: Updates on Seahawks QB's Week 8 Status & Fantasy Value

Alex KayOct 24, 2011

Tarvaris "Third-and-Long" Jackson was nearly ready for this past Sunday’s game but coach Pete Carroll decided against starting the QB in the Seattle Seahawks match against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Update: Sunday, Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m. EDT

Updating previous reports, it was Charlie Whitehurst, not Tarvaris Jackson that started against the Bengals, according to ESPN's John Clayton.

Seattle Times reporter Danny O'Neill has tweeted that Tarvaris Jackson is active and will start for the Seattle Seahawks today against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Update: Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1:23 p.m. EDT

Tarvaris Jackson appears ready to play Sunday, according to 710 ESPN Seattle's Liz Matthews.

Update: Wednesday, 5:45 p.m. EDT

According to Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times, Tavaris Jackson has been limited in practice, but it's positive that he has been out on the field.

It will be interesting to see if he can get back out on the field this weekend, but for now be sure to tame your expectations.

He is recovering quite fast from his pectoral injury.

According to The News Tribune,

"

He threw the ball very well under the circumstances, but he’s not 100 percent,” Carroll said. “And he was going to have to say, ‘I can go. I can do it. I don’t feel it.’ And really give us a real positive on it. It’s really up to him right now because he’s the one that’s feeling it. But we thought if he doesn’t go today, that he’ll have a chance to go next week. And if he did go, we didn’t know what would happen.”
The Seahawks suffered a tough 6-3 loss in a very ugly game without Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst looked absolutely terrible on the day.

"

Jackson somehow gives the team a better chance to win, which is more of an admission on the ineffective of his backup rather than a compliment to his skills.

The team has a tough matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals at home next Sunday and Jackson should be overcome any remaining pain and be on the field as the starter.

Keep it tuned here throughout the week for the latest breaking news on Tarvaris Jackson and his Week 8 status for the Seattle Seahawks.
