Week 8 Waiver Wire: Carson Palmer and 4 Players You Should Grab Now
So you are heading into Week 8 of your fantasy football season, and your team is still in trouble. You drafted Peyton Manning, Jamal Charles or Andre Johnson (hopefully not all three), and you still haven't been able to fix a thing since these players were not able to hit the field.
Luckily, there is always the waiver wire and there will always be a few guys sitting around that no one in your league has thought of picking up. There are also guys that had a big impact in Week 7, so you need to be ready to grab them once you are able to drop/add in your league.
Here are four guys that everyone should consider going into Week 8.
LaRod Stephens-Howling
1 of 4Team: Arizona Cardinals
Position: RB
ESPN Fantasy Percentage Owned: 1.2 Percent
Why
LaRod Stephens-Howling is worth a look going into Week 8. With Beanie Wells suffering from a sprained right knee in Week 7, Howling presents the best option in the backfield if Wells can't go. Even if Wells can, expect him to be limited depending on the severity of the injury.
The Cardinals do play the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, so move forward with caution. That being said, if you need a running back, Howling is definitely worth a look.
Carson Palmer
2 of 4Team: Oakland Raiders
Position: QB
ESPN Fantasy Percentage Owned: 29.9 Percent
Why
On a positive note, we do now know that the Carson Palmer era has officially begun in Oakland. The bad news is he started out that era with three interceptions. Don't worry though, as this was Palmer's first actual game with the team, and he will have a bye this coming week to work out the kinks.
Many will be hesitant to pick up Palmer after his three-pick premier and the upcoming bye week, but if he is available, you grab him now. You can never ask for too many quarterback options.
Tim Tebow
3 of 4Team: Denver Broncos
Position: QB/RB(?)
ESPN Fantasy Percentage Owned: 77.1 Percent
Why
It is looking like Tim Tebow is turning out to be an excellent fantasy football option. We all knew that he could run the ball, but when given the chance, he is also moving the ball through the air. It took the Denver Bronco's three quarters to figure this out, but they finally gave him the chance in the fourth and with that he completed two touchdowns to finish out the game.
Given that the game was against Miami, I advise to move forward, but with much caution. Tebow is facing the Lions next week, and their front seven are not very kind to opposing quarterbacks. If you are in need of a quarterback for Week 8 or beyond though, Tebow is worth a roster spot at least.
Plaxico Buress
4 of 4Team: New York Jets
Position: WR
ESPN Fantasy Percentage Owned: 81.3 Percent
Why
It might be tough to find Plaxico Burress available in your league, but if you can you better grab him. In a dismal offense in New York, Burress finally broke through for the first time this season. It was in a big way, too. While only catching four catches for 25 yards, three of those receptions were touchdowns.
Burress isn't going to provide a big down field option, but he could potentially be becoming one of Mark Sanchez's preferred big red zone targets. If he is around, I would grab him and see where this thing goes. Yardage just may be next.
