Mark Ingram is out and Chris Ivory has been moved to the active roster, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Luckily for the Saints, they're taking on the worst run defense in the NFL and they will have success on the ground, regardless of who is getting carries.

Update: Thursday, Oct. 27 at 3:11 p.m. EDT by Brandon Galvin

Mark Ingram missed practice again on Thursday, according to New Orleans Times-Picayune's Mike Triplett, and appears unlikely to play Sunday against St. Louis.

"Ingram appears unlikely to play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams at this point, though the Saints haven't ruled him out."

If Ingram does sit out, Pierre Thomas would be a respectable flex play. Still, expect Darren Sproles to dominate the touches out of the backfield and be in store for another monstrous game.

Update: Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. EDT

Jeff Duncan, the Saints beat reporter for The Times-Picayune, tweeted that Ingram missed practice today. He's resting a heel injury that makes him a question mark for this weekend.

It's still being considered a day-to-day injury, so all hope is not lost, but he'll need to show improvement over the next few days or the Saints will probably play it safe with the rookie. Keep checking back for the latest news.

Update at 3:10 p.m. EDT

ProFootballTalk.com has inside information on Ingram's injury.

Mike Florio writes,

"

"The news is good — or at least not as bad as it could have been — for the Saints.  Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Ingram is day-to-day, icing the heel and taking regular treatment."

"

The New Orleans Saints blew out the Indianapolis Colts, but may be worse off for it now.

Mark Ingram left the massacre during the fourth quarter with what Rotoworld is calling a "bruised right heel."

While Ingram was able to get off the field on his own volition, it was quite obvious he was in pain. He was not wearing his shoe and limping his way to the locker room.

I don’t understand why the team pulled out star QB Drew Brees, but left in prized first-round pick Ingram towards the end of the shellacking they gave to the Colts.

Luckily for Saints fans and Ingram fantasy owners, coach Sean Payton confirmed after the game that the X-rays on his heel came back negative, according to Jeff Duncan (via Twitter).

We won’t really have a clear picture on the extent of this injury until the Saints practice resumes and the team can properly evaluate him.

For fantasy purposes, Pierre Thomas needs to be added by anyone who owns Ingram, and those that don’t have faith that Ingram will return.

We will update you as soon as we find out the latest news on Ingram and his heel injury, so stay tuned right here throughout the week for the most updated information on the Saints’ star RB.
