NFL Power Rankings Week 8: What Teams Have the Best Title Shot?

Ryan PhillipsOct 24, 2011

After Sunday's games we're almost through seven weeks of the 2011 NFL season and already two teams have separated themselves from the pack to become the league's leading title contenders.

The Green Bay Packers won again on Sunday, and although they struggled, Aaron Rodgers and company were able to slip past the Minnesota Vikings 33-27. Despite a close call against an awful Vikings squad, Green Bay is still the only undefeated team in the league and remains the clear Super Bowl favorite.

Rodgers has been unbelievable through seven weeks this season. The seventh-year pro has a quarterback rating of 125.7, which is nearly 21 points higher than Tom Brady's second-place number of 104.8. The Cal product is leading an offense that is posting 423.3 yards per game (fourth in the NFL) and 32.9 points per game (second in the NFL).

Until someone proves they can step up and stop the Packers' incredibly prolific offense, Rodgers and company will reaming the favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

The New England Patriots had a bye on Sunday, but when they have been active the Pats have looked fantastic. Led by quarterback Tom Brady and a prolific passing attack, New England has the league's top-ranked offense (474.5 yards per game).

While their defense ranks dead last in the league (423.7 yards per game), the Patriots are actually improving on that side of the ball and a bye week could only help the unit improve more.

Right now the Patriots are led by one of the top two quarterbacks in the NFL and are clearly the favorites to win the AFC and head to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl.
