Top 10 Games Outside the EPL: October 28-31

Last week's Top 10 Matches outside the EPL showcased continental European matches. This week I wanted to extend the perspective to include some big matches in both North and South America that should be of note over the weekend.

This week the Serie A really has some of the best fixtures as three made the cut, but it is also prudent to mention Catania vs. Napoli and Cagliari vs. Lazio as two more great matches to see aside from the others mentioned here.

As usual, the games are ordered from the first to last based on when they will air in the eastern United States. If you can spare a match or two away from the EPL, the continental games on offer this week are sure to please.

ESPN2 and ESPN3.com are covering several of them, as are Gol TV, Fox Soccer Channel and Foxsoccer.tv.

VfB Stuttgart vs. Borussia Dortmund

Time: 9:30 AM ET, October 29th, 2011

League: German Bundesliga

Synopsis: Borussia Dortmund have climbed back up the table and now sit in second place only three points back of Bayern Munich. Stuttgart likewise are only three points back from second place.

Prediction: VfB Stuttgart 2-2 Borussia Dortmund

AS Roma vs. AC Milan

Time: 12:00 PM ET, October 29th, 2011

League: Italian Serie A

Synopsis: Roma play host to Milan as both clubs continue to search for their permanent winning formula. Both sides need a win and the atmosphere in the Stadio Olympico is sure to be excellent.

Prediction: Roma 3-2 Milan

Inter Milan vs. Juventus, the Derby D'Italia

Time: 2:45 PM ET, October 29th, 2011

League: Italian Serie A

Synopsis: Inter Milan have struggled all season but they should adjust their mindset when old rivals Juventus come to town. The Old Lady are on top of it this season and nothing could jump start Inter more than a victory at home in a derby.

Prediction: Inter 1-3 Juventus

FC Twente vs. PSV

Time: 2:45 PM ET, October 29th, 2011

League: Dutch Eredivisie

Synopsis: FC Twente and PSV both drew their matches last weekend, but neither will want to settle for only a point as No. 2 plays host to No. 3 in the Eredivisie for a great showdown.

Prediction: FC Twente 1-2 PSV

UANL vs. Santos

Time: 8:00 PM ET, October 29th, 2011

League: Primera División de México

Synopsis: Santos hold firm in second place in the Apertura, but a victory for UANL could see them jump into the top four or even into second if the rest of the top half falter.

Prediction: UANL 2- 2 Santos

Real Salt Lake vs. Seattle Sounders Game 1

Time: 10:00 PM ET, October 29th, 2011

League: Major League Soccer

Synopsis: If Major League Soccer were like every other respectable league, the Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake would be the second- and third-place finishers to the L.A. Galaxy. However, in the MLS we have a playoff system that rewards only the lucky. Nonetheless this should be a great two-legged matchup starting late Saturday night.

Prediction: Real 2-2 Seattle

Udinese vs. Palermo

Time: 9:00 AM ET, October 30th, 2011

League: Italian Serie A

Synopsis: Udinese and Palermo have had frustrating results over the last few weeks, as both have dropped down the table several places. However, their chances to gain some points back come against one another this weekend.

Prediction: Udinese 1-2 Palermo

Osasuna vs. Levante

Time: 11:00 AM ET, October 30th, 2011

League: Spanish La Liga

Synopsis: Levante have the best record in Spain and sit at the top of the table with 23 points. They will hope to remain up with a victory over tricky Osasuna.

Prediction: Osasuna 1-2 Levante

Malaga vs. Espanyol

Time: 5:00 PM ET, October 30th, 2011

League: Spanish La Liga

Synopsis: Malaga and Espanyol battle it out in a sixth vs. seventh matchup in La Liga as both push to over take Sevilla in fifth.

Prediction: Malaga 2-1 Espanyol

Boca Juniors vs. Atletico Rafaela

Time: 5:10 PM ET, October 30th, 2011

League: Primera División de Argentina

Synopsis: Boca Juniors have a six-point lead over Atletico Rafaela in the Argentine league after 12 games. The Juniors and the fans of the La Bombonera will be primed to extend their lead.

Prediction: Boca Juniors 3-1 Atletico Rafaela

Conclusion

Another great weekend of worldwide action is served up starting Saturday morning with Germany's Bundelsliga getting our top 10 going in the first previewed match.
