WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: What We Learned from Randy Orton Win

Mark PareOct 23, 2011

At Vengeance, Randy Orton got his first PPV win since SummerSlam, when he defeated Cody Rhodes.

It was a good tilt that could've gone either way. Orton showed once again that he is one of the best WWE has to offer, while Rhodes continues to impress everyone with his skills both in, and outside, the ring.

So what have we learned from Orton's win Sunday?

He's Slithering Back

1 of 3

The Viper, as mentioned before, hasn't won on a PPV since SummerSlam, but his luck is changing. Still, don't expect Orton to go back into the title picture for the remainder of the year.

He is making a case to stay in the title picture, and although the title feuds are ongoing, Orton is bound to find someone he knows and start a feud with them.

With Survivor Series around the corner, he should be involved in a big time match that will keep his popularity up and will allow him to use almost anything this arena has.

Will he be in a title match? Will he be teaming with John Cena and The Rock?

One thing's for sure: Orton isn't going quietly.

Rhodes Coming into His Own

This match may not have been for Rhodes' Intercontinental Title, but it was a turning point in his career.

Cody Rhodes' gimmick gives him some intense heat, but on the ice, it's all about who you are covering. By losing to Orton, one would think they'll be buried, but Rhodes doesn't strike me as someone who lets the jobbing go straight to his head.

There is a possibility that Ziggler will be defending the US Championship at Survivor Series, but we know Dolph Ziggler can do two matches, so why not Rhodes?

Defend the belt and compete against The Rock in one night; now, that is dedication to your job.

Rhodes may end up in the title picture as early as January 2012, so keep your eye out for that breaking moment in WWE history.

Title Aspirations

The World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry has already proved to be superior than Randy Orton; though wrestling for gold is always a good thing in the confidence level.

If Rhodes has a rematch, he could always try some heel tactics because his Intercontinental Championship will be on the line and in jeopardy.

Wrestlers know when it's time to be social and when to be non-social, so when you lose a PPV bout, everyone comments on what you did in the ring.

Orton is past the hump, and considering he knows he can beat Rhodes clean, the next time they meet, the title will be on the line.
