BCS Standings 2011: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers, Early Betting Odds

Jeff GrantOct 23, 2011

College football fans will have to wait for the No. 1 LSU Tigers and No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide to meet up, but early betting odds are available to handicap.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have sent out the Crimson Tide as four-point home favorites in a contest that will be played at Bryant-Denny Stadium  in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 5.

It's a cheaper line than what I created back on Oct. 12, but definitely within reason due to the past two weeks of action.

Alabama will be difficult to bet against due to head coach Nick Saban's 5-0 ATS record when seeking conference revenge during his time on campus, while I wonder about the focus of LSU's players due to suspensions involving numerous players over the course of the 2011 campaign.

There's a definite argument that the distractions have caused little harm to the program due to convincing wins over the Oregon Ducks (40-27) and Auburn Tigers (45-10), but the incidents will definitely be in the minds of many bettors.

I must also point out that the Tigers failed to cover the number in both losses a season ago, dropping a 24-17 contest to the Auburn Tigers as 5.5-point road underdogs, while also falling 31-23 to the Arkansas Razorbacks when getting 3.5 points in Little Rock.

Without question, whoever comes out of this contest will be the favorite to win the BCS Championship Game on Jan. 9, 2012, in New Orleans.

Let the debate begin.
