BCS Rankings Week 9: Oklahoma and Other Teams That Must Prove Their Worth

To say that Oklahoma's slide from their No. 1 preseason ranking is surprising would be a lie.

They've been overrated since the very first day the rankings came out, and their downfall from No. 1 to No. 9 is proof of that statement.

Now i'm not saying that Oklahoma is a bad team, because they do have a 6-1 record, but in the chase for the BCS title one loss is all it takes to effectively knock a team out of contention.

They can still make something out of this season, but they are going to have to do a whole lot to prove their worth.

Oklahoma's not the only team that needs to step up for the remainder of this season though.

Here's a list of a few teams that need to prove themselves:

Oklahoma:

Losing to Texas Tech was essentially the nail in the coffin for the Sooners' BCS championship hopes. Moving forward they can still salvage what's left of their Big 12 schedule with wins against Kansas State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State. In fact, they can still win the Big 12, but they have to be perfect from here on out.

Michigan State:

Michigan State knocked off the giant that was known as Russell Wilson and the Wisconsin Badger football team on an unforgettable Hail Mary to win the game. It was essentially the defining moment of this year so far, but now MSU has to prove that they can keep it up and not let down on the rest of their Big Ten schedule.

Clemson:

In my opinion the Clemson Tigers are a legitimate BCS championship contender, but it's still a rather hard thing to wrap the mind around. The last game of the season against No. 13 South Carolina will be the biggest test of their season, and if they win I think they will have a good shot at the big game.
