Fantasy Football Week 7 Injury Report: Hightower, Moss Must Recover Quickly
What an awful Sunday for the Washington Redskins...
Not only did they lose to the 1-5 Carolina Panthers, 33-20, but they lost two key offensive cogs in the process.
Santana Moss left the game in the first half with a hand injury, and now a league source is reporting that Moss has broken it.
This is a huge blow considering he was the team leader in receptions at 23, to go along with 284 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Moss was the speedy receiver that was able to get down field and stretch the oppositionโs defense.
Without him, QB John Beck has little weapons to work with. It looks like Jabar Gaffney is now the No. 1 receiver on the teamโฆnot good. Anthony Armstrong is a disappointment and Donte Stallworth canโt even get on the field.
The โSkins' offense is in even bigger trouble because of what happened to Timย Hightower. After getting the ball 17 times for 88 yards (5.2ย ypc) on Sunday,ย Hightowerย had to be carted off the field with a left knee injury.
It looked horrible at first glance, butย Hightowerย doesnโt believeย he tore anย ACL:

Sure Mike Shanahan is famous for treating his running backs like they are all the same person with different last names on their jerseys, but itโs crystal-clear thatย Hightowerย is the best suited runner for the zone-blocking run scheme that is implemented in Washington.
Losingย Hightowerย for more than a few weeks would have devastating ramifications for the Redskins going forward. With Moss andย Hightowerย likely to miss at least one to two gamesโthe Washington offense is suddenly in huge trouble.
Monday will have plenty of Redskinsโ fans crossing their fingers as they hope two of their starsย arenโt going to missย significant time.ย ย
