Fantasy Football Week 7 Injury Report: Hightower, Moss Must Recover Quickly
What an awful Sunday for the Washington Redskins...
Not only did they lose to the 1-5 Carolina Panthers, 33-20, but they lost two key offensive cogs in the process.
Santana Moss left the game in the first half with a hand injury, and now a league source is reporting that Moss has broken it.
This is a huge blow considering he was the team leader in receptions at 23, to go along with 284 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Moss was the speedy receiver that was able to get down field and stretch the opposition’s defense.
Without him, QB John Beck has little weapons to work with. It looks like Jabar Gaffney is now the No. 1 receiver on the team…not good. Anthony Armstrong is a disappointment and Donte Stallworth can’t even get on the field.
The ‘Skins' offense is in even bigger trouble because of what happened to Tim Hightower. After getting the ball 17 times for 88 yards (5.2 ypc) on Sunday, Hightower had to be carted off the field with a left knee injury.
It looked horrible at first glance, but Hightower doesn’t believe he tore an ACL:
Sure Mike Shanahan is famous for treating his running backs like they are all the same person with different last names on their jerseys, but it’s crystal-clear that Hightower is the best suited runner for the zone-blocking run scheme that is implemented in Washington.
Losing Hightower for more than a few weeks would have devastating ramifications for the Redskins going forward. With Moss and Hightower likely to miss at least one to two games—the Washington offense is suddenly in huge trouble.
Monday will have plenty of Redskins’ fans crossing their fingers as they hope two of their stars aren’t going to miss significant time.
