Fantasy Football Week 15 Rankings: Quarterbacks

Michael WhooleyDec 8, 2008

Depending on what your league you’re in, the upcoming week represents either fantasy football playoffs or the finals. Regardless, it’s not time to be spending copious amounts of time debating which quarterback you should start.

Whether you’re in the losers' bracket playing for sixth place or you’re up against the number-one team in the league, the right quarterback play can help you win your match up.

So without further ado, we bring to you the ever so crucial Bruno Boys Week 15 Quarterback Rankings.

1. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Detroit Lions

Perhaps it was the slow start to the season that made us forget about the Indianapolis Colts but they are quickly reminding everybody that they remain among the elite teams in the AFC and have now won six games in a row thanks to the play of quarterback Peyton Manning.

During that six-game winning streak, Manning has thrown 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions. This week he’s matched up against the Detroit Lions who rank in the bottom half of the league in passing yards allowed and last in points allowed.
Point Projection: 24 points

2. Kurt Warner (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Minnesota Vikings

Led by the play of quarterback Kurt Warner, the Arizona Cardinals clinched their first division title since 1975 with a win over the St. Louis Rams last week.

Warner’s been so spectacular this season for fantasy owners that in his worst game, two weeks ago against Philadelphia, Warner managed a meager 65.7 quarterback rating and had three interceptions, but still threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns.

This week he’ll be playing against a Minnesota pass defense that gives up a lot of yards and points. Furthermore, the Vikings may be without star defensive end Jared Allen, who is nursing shoulder and knee injuries.
Point Projection: 22 points

--------------------

3. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Green Bay Packers have been a disappointment this season but in no way can that be attributed to the play of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has multiple-touchdown games in each of the last four weeks.

The Jaguars have been absolutely stumbling recently amid questions about the players’ desire and chemistry, as they given up an average of 27.7 points in their last three games. Expect another good game from Rodgers in this one.
Point Projection: 21 points

--------------------

4. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) at Kansas City Chiefs

It’s easy to overlook the San Diego Chargers this season given how disappointing they’ve been but the play of quarterback Philip Rivers should be noticed. He’s got almost 3,200 passing yards and 26 touchdowns in 13 games.

And even though the team has lost two its last three games, Rivers has five touchdowns and no interceptions. Against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, Rivers should have another good game as there won’t be much defense played by either team.
Point Projection: 20 points

--------------------

5. Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys) vs. New York Giants

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo would find himself slightly lower on this list of rankings if the game with the New York Giants was to be played in the Meadowlands. However, benefiting from the home field advantage, and much better weather in Dallas, will help Romo this week.

Besides, Romo is pretty cut-and-dried player. He’s good at getting you fantasy points, but not at winning clutch games. We only care about the former in the fantasy football world.
Point Projection: 19 points

--------------------

6. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) at Chicago Bears

In a rematch of the 2006 NFC championship game, New Orleans and quarterback Drew Brees will play at the Chicago Bears. The two teams met in the final game of the regular season last year and Brees was 35 of 60 for 320 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

It’s doubtful he’ll score that many points or attempt that many passes this time around but he’s still a great play. Brees will enter the game hot, with multiple touchdowns in last three games. Don’t hesitate to start him because of the match up or the venue.
Point Projection: 19 points

--------------------

7. Matt Cassel (New England Patriots) at Oakland Raiders

New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel is starting to put the finishing touches on what has been a dream season for a guy that hadn’t started a game since high school prior to this season.

With four touchdowns and three interceptions in his last three games, it’s clear that Cassel is not folding under the pressure of the race for the playoffs. What’s nice about Cassel is he’s shown he can perform well against weak defenses and he gets another one this week in the Oakland Raiders.
Point Projection: 18 points
