NFL Picks Week 7: Why Fitzgerald and Arizona Cardinals Will Take Down Steelers

Luis BatlleOct 23, 2011

Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals are underdogs going into their Week 7 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But truthfully, it's the Steelers that should be the team with the pressure on them.

Despite their poor record on the season, the Cardinals are a team that could work the Steelers' secondary with the pass. On the year, the team has a solid, No. 16 pass offense which has come against some tough teams.

The Cardinals are also playing this game in Arizona, where the team will certainly benefit from being at home.

More so than anything, it should be the inconsistency of the Pittsburgh Steelers that plays to the strengths of the Arizona Cardinals.

The Steelers' No. 1 ranked passing defense would suggest that the Cardinals have no chance at breaking the Steelers secondary.

Yet that statistic is one that should easily be overlooked.

The Steelers have played the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks this season, all teams that struggle tremendously at the quarterback position.

In their two losses, they played against the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans— teams that feature two top-notch quarterbacks in Matt Schaub.

Flacco threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns in their victory over the Steelers in Week 1.

Consider that the Steelers have not been able to beat mediocre teams with any sort of dominance. They beat a poor Jaguars team at home 17-13, and barely knocked off the Colts 23-20 earlier this season.

With the Cardinals playing at home and the Steelers yet to convincingly beat weaker opponents, there is no question the Cardinals have a chance to pull off the upset in Week 7.
