NFL Picks Week 7: Last-Minute Picks for the Late Games

Alex KayOct 23, 2011

With the early afternoon NFL Week 7 games currently in progress, it’s time to get your last minute picks in for the remaining six games this week.

We have four games starting between 4:05 and 4:15 p.m. EDT and then the Sunday and Monday night games still left to start.

Let’s take a look at some of the lines and who I think will cover the spread in these later games.

Oakland Raiders (-3.5) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

I love the Raiders here. Even without Jason Campbell, I don’t think Kansas City can hang with Oakland.

Campbell sometimes hurts the Raiders more than he helps them. A short leash on either Kyle Boller or Carson Palmer will keep the offense streamlined and focused on their prolific running game.

Lay the points here in the Coliseum and get paid.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-4) at Arizona Cardinals

This seems too obvious to be true.

The Steelers are vastly superior to the Cardinals and they should win this easily.

The team is stacked with veterans who are used to traveling and winning on the road, so traveling to Arizona isn’t going to hurt them.

I think Pittsburgh’s defense accounts for enough points to cover this spread themselves.

St. Louis Rams (+14) at Dallas Cowboys

A.J. Feely is starting for the Rams today, but I still think they are able to cover this two-touchdown spread.

Feely has beaten the Cowboys before, back in 2002 as a member of the Eagles, but still has the victory.

This Rams team is offensively sound: They just can’t seem to punch the ball in. I expect that to change and for them to get a few scores today and cover.

Green Bay Packers (-10.5) at Minnesota Vikings

Packers all day here. I would take the Packers at -20.5, that’s how confident I am that they win this game and win it big.

Christian Ponder is making his first NFL start, and he will have a rough welcome from the tough Packers’ defense.

The Packers are going to make it a day Ponder will want to forget, and let him know they are the class of his division.

Aaron Rodgers will have his usual incredible day and the Pack will win this by three-plus touchdowns.

New Orleans Saints (-13.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts

Drew Brees and his offense aren’t happy about their sloppy play and loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.

They need a win today to remain on top of the NFC South, and they will get that against the lowly Colts.

I think they reassert dominance and just bludgeon Indianapolis by a ton of points.

Baltimore Ravens (-10) at Jacksonville Jaguars

This is a tough call but I really like Baltimore’s defense.

The Jaguars have been able to keep it close with teams lately, but Blaine Gabbert is going to get abused by the Ravens’ defense.

I’m laying the points on Monday Night Football.
