Sam Bradford Injury: 5 Predictions for AJ Feeley's First Start of the Season

Hal NicholsOct 23, 2011

The St. Louis Rams are hoping to turn back time today, as A.J. Feeley will get the start at quarterback while Sam Bradford sits out due to injuries.

It’s hard to say that Feeley will hurt the Rams chances of winning too significantly, as they have gone a dreadful 0-5 even with their prospective quarterback of the future in the lineup. However, no team is likely to feel good about their chances when they start a guy who has not logged a win as a starter since 2004.

Here are five predictions about how Feeley’s first start in half of a decade will go:

1. Feeley Will Throw More INTs Than TDs

Feeley has never been great about taking care of the ball and Dallas has an opportunistic secondary. The Cowboys have snatched six interceptions so far this season, good for eighth in the league. Coupled with the Cowboys pass rush, expect Feeley to make several bad decisions and for at least a couple of the head the other way.

2. DeMarcus Ware Will Log a Pair of Sacks, Minimum

The Rams' offensive line has been atrocious so far this season, which has played a major role in Bradford's dramatic regression this year. In five games, Bradford has gone down a mind-blowing 21 times.

Ware’s elite pass rushing skills should make a huge impact on today’s game.

3. Steven Jackson Will Be Very Tired After Today’s Game

Though Jackson has been hurt most of the season, he put in a strong effort against the Packers last week. Expect the Rams to take the ball out of Feeley’s hands whenever possible.

However, the Cowboys are one of the best run defenses in the league, so Jackson will have to fight and claw for every yard. Expect him to earn his money today.

4. Brandon Lloyd Will Not Miss a Step on His New Team

Lloyd’s career exploded last season in Josh McDaniel’s scheme. The Rams are hoping that reuniting Lloyd with his old coach will summon some of that production from last year. Lloyd should make the transition to a new team much more easily than most wide receivers.

5. The Rams Will Lose By 20+ Points

This Rams team is bad and getting worse. While Lloyd’s presence may eventually pay dividends once Bradford returns to the lineup, it’s hard to imagine Feeley doing anywhere near enough to get a win.

Unless Steven Jackson puts up one of the best rushing performances of the season, this one won’t be close.
